Tell Me Lies Season 3 didn't just officially close the series and the college journey of the main characters, but it also forces the past and present to collide. As seen in episode 8 (the finale), the story moves between 2009 and 2015, revealing years of secrets, manipulation and messy choices.

While time has passed, the patterns haven’t. The same toxic dynamics resurface, proving that for certain people, self-destruction isn’t a phase. It’s a habit. And most of the fans clearly didn't like it.

Soon after the last episode, "Are You Happy Now, That I'm on My Knees?" aired, fans took no time to share their genuine reactions on the internet, especially on social media platforms. A tweet reads:

"Literally the worst finale. My sister and I have been sitting in silence for 30mins out of anger. The sound choice in the end, just made it a joke. Tell Me Lies? No I’ll Tell You to never watch this god freaking show ever. 4 years of stress induced anxiety hives."

At the end of Tell Me Lies Season 3, a wedding event is destroyed and Stephen makes it worse by trying to expose Lucy. Not only this, Lucy ends up making one final wrong decision that places her exactly where she was in the first place.

The finale wastes no time pulling apart the lies that have been quietly building all season. Bree learns that it was Lucy with whom Evan cheated on her and then her situation becomes worse when Bree's mother easily gets manipulated by Evan's wife and belives that her daughter is a real problem creator and Evan faces no consequences at all.

Meanwhile, other confessions and revelations also take place as Pippa admits she cheated and later tells Wrigley she’s gay. Lucy finally reveals her secret about Evan, but the damage is irreversible. Then comes the tape.

When Lucy tries to expose Stephen at his Yale party, her own recorded confession starts spreading around campus. Everyone assumes Stephen leaked it. He didn’t. The real shock came later, when Bree was the one who released it. And just like that, there's only chaos and nothing else in Tell Me Lies Season 3 finale.

There are a lot of questions that fans need and answer for. A user tweeted on X:

"How did Lucy end up back with that one guy? What was the point of her curling iron burn? Did Lydia’s brother get away with raping girls? How did Stephen and Lydia get together? What was Bree and Alex’s childhood like? No justice for Macy? Professor never gets caught?"

Another fan who watched the finale of Tell Me Lies Season 3 wrote:

"0/10 do not recommend tell me lies. I wish I never watched that lousy ass show 🚮 I AM STRESSEDDDD. So glad it’s over for good."

One of the viewers of Tell Me Lies Season 3 agrees with Lucy making terrible choices in her life, but the ending felt "unforgivable". The tweet reads:

"I don’t hate her and i know she’s a victim and i’ve stood by her through a plethora of TERRIBLE choices but the way tell me lies just ended is actually unforgivable…"

Another big reason why many fans are slamming the Season 3 ending is that Stephen faces no consequences for his actions. In fact, he leaves Lucy after telling her to come with him, only to make her feel miserable and defeated. A fan wrote:

"Because of that series finale now i regret recommending tell me lies to my friends and begging them to start it bcs it doesn’t have a satisfying ending bcs stephen is not hold accountable for anything and lets not even talk about lucy’s stupid choice again like im mad rn"

One more fan mentioned how Lucy still chose to go with Stephen in Tell Me Lies Season 3 despite the distance between them. The only thing he has ever done to her is make Lucy feel miserable and confused. And years later, she is still the same. This made some viewers angry, as one wrote on X:

"i understand lucy losing herself in stephen at the time, but 6 years later with no contact and she’s still head empty over him like no time went by just feels so unrealistic."

In the final moments of Tell Me Lies Season 3, Bree tries to stop Lucy from joining Stephen after he destroyed the wedding event. However, Lucy pays no attention to her and leaves. In a few minutes, Stephen stops the car at a gas station, and Lucy also gets out, only to be left alone.

Stephen is gone, while Lucy is left, crying and laughing over what she and other people have done to her. This way, the series ends.
