1) The Ingalls' log cabin

To bring the cabin to life, the production decided to build a ninety-thousand-pound log structure. And this was made without any new technology or tools, but with old traditional methods using wooden pegs.
The inside of the cabin had Mary's and Laura's combs and beds, china shepherdesses, quilts that were hand-stitched, and the rocking chair that was made by Charles Ingalls for Caroline Ingalls. A new well system for the Ingalls family was also installed.
2) Independence

Another important filming location in the series was Independence, where the production built a complete version of. It features Henderson General Store, a newspaper office, twenty-nine buildings, a sawmill, and a hotel.
The store is filled with everyday items from the time, some of which include pickles and peppermint sticks. Set decorator James V. Kent, while speaking to Tudum, revealed that Dr. Tann's office was created using real historical details and research.
3) The covered wagon

Another important filming location for the series was the covered wagon, which was again built from scratch by the production and was packed with the items the family had. For the same, a wooden frame and a white canvas top were used. Additionally, it wasn't just used for travel purposes, as it also became the family's house.
4) The landscape

Speaking of the landscape, production designer Jonah Markowitz told Tudum that in order to get the best landscape for the series, the team filmed across all four seasons to get the best details. He added that the environmental changes around the characters are very well seen through flowers, changes in the sky, and greenery. Additionally, a secret passageway was also created in the middle of the grass.
5) The Osage village and the Mitchell home

The production created the Osage Lodge with the help of cultural consultant Julie O’Keefe and other professionals. As for the Mitchell home, it was created with help from Osage scholar Robert Warrior to show the family's Osage and European background. The house featured items showing the roots, some of which include Blue Willow china and woven rugs.
