The heart of the series is He Simu, a powerful spirit ruler who has existed for centuries. She governs a mysterious realm called Guixu, but despite the great powers, she feels lonely and isolated. The reason? He Simu cannot use any of the five senses like human does.

But when she comes across Duan Xu, a brave general from the human world andlearns that they are connected, He Simu's life changes. Duan Xu shares his senses with her which allows Simu to taste food and feel emotions. And as their story unfolds, they fall in love.

Episode 28 of Love Beyond the Grave will be released today, April 9, 2026 on WeTV and Tencent Video around 6:00 pm CST. The C-drama is also available to stream on Viki but the episode release schedule is different for this platform.

So, if you're watching the show through Viki, make sure to check which two episodes drop today. They are available with English subtitles right after they come out and are only accessible if you have a Viki Pass (subscription plan).

What has been the story in Love Beyond the Grave so far

The latest episodes of Love Beyond the Grave are both personal and political. Duan Jingyuan coincidentally encounters Fang Xianye while avoiding exposure to rainfall in an area he thought was safe.

When Fang Xianye discovers that Duan Jingyuan is an official opposed to her family, she quickly turns cold to him. Additionally, Duan Jingyuan references a poem written by Fang Xianye's brother, which Fang Xianye interprets as a false affection, and she therefore sees Duan Jingyuan as being disingenuous.

However, Fang Xianye also notices that Duan Jingyuan has an injured hand, which he claims was a result of a previous incident. As this takes place, tensions in Nandu continue to grow, as Fang Xianye is ambushed on his way to a meeting with Duke Pei.

The ambush clearly was meant as a warning and not an assassination attempt. Duke Pei who had anticipated this violence toward Fang Xianye and had endeavored to protect him adds that he is aware that Duan Xu's father is working to obtain a powerful marriage alliance for Duan Xu.

Duke Pei’s plan is for the Fifth Prince to claim those same women before Duan Xu and thwart his father’s plan to form alliances through marriage. In the background, Luoxian and Duan Xu are working together through their network of contacts.

Luoxian reports that Fang Xianye’s ambush served as a warning and was successful. Luoxian also reports that a mysterious new woman has entered the pleasure house; she is also identified as He Simu, a powerful spirit who is capturing the obsessions of humanity.

At the Fifth Prince’s residence in Love Beyond the Grave, Consort Yu shows her ruthless side by killing a maid to protect their reputation, while reminding her son their survival depends on Duke Pei. As plans unfold, a palace banquet becomes the central stage for political and personal maneuvering.
