Netflix dropped the official trailer for a reality TV show, Love is Blind: Netherlands, on September 16. The show introduces 30 Dutch singles searching for real love without ever laying eyes on each other. It presents a social experiment that asks if love can truly be blind and whether people can fall in love by focusing on personality instead of looks.

The contestants spend 10 days speaking to each other inside private pods, and they are only allowed to meet face-to-face once they become engaged during that stage. After the engagement, couples live together, meet family and friends, and then decide if they want to move forward to marriage.

The reality TV show starts with an equal number of men and women who want to find their love. For ten days, they date inside special small rooms where they can talk through speakers but cannot see each other. They can only see each other through a blue translucent wall.

Step-by-step breakdown of the game

Step 1: The contestants meet in a speed-dating style, but later they can choose longer conversations. During dating, they can also propose to each other for marriage, and if both accept the proposal, both can meet face-to-face.

Step 2: Once the couples get engaged, they travel to a resort for one week, spend time together, share their first chance for physical intimacy, and meet the other couples in the experiment.

Step 3: After the trip, the engaged couples move into an apartment complex for the final 3 weeks, live together, meet each other's friends and families, and learn about daily life problems like personal habits, money, leisure, and future home plans. The couples also prepare for weddings scheduled after 4 weeks.

During this period, the female contestants shop for wedding dresses, and the male participants shop for suits, usually with friends or family members. They also select details like the design and flavor of the wedding cake. At the altar, each person decides whether to say "I do" and enter a legal marriage.
