Love Island UK Season 13 premiere recap

Love Island UK Season 13 started off with 12 singletons arriving at the villa on Day 1 and two bombshells arriving on Day 2. The singletons who arrived on the first day were Aidan Murphy, Angelista Gunda, Ellie Chadwick, Jasmine Müller, Lola Deal, Lorenzo Alessi, Mica Harris, Ope Sowande, Robyn Langton, Samuel Workman, Samraj Toor, and Seán Fitzgerald.

They all arrived in random pairs one after another and spent some time talking amongst themselves. Ope almost tripped when he arrived, making him the centre of attention. The drama of Love Island UK Season 13 began soon after, when host Maya Jama arrived and presented the islanders with a challenge. The challenge was that the islanders would be asked questions, and they had to take a sip of their drinks if they wished to answer.

These questions were slightly intrusive. For instance, they were asked if they had identified any red flags in their fellow islanders in the short time they had spent mingling. The islanders were then allowed to couple up, but instead of the pre-decided order, Maya Jama revealed that the islanders had complete freedom to choose their own partners.

This allowed them to openly discuss and negotiate their pairings, giving them much more say in who they ended up with on the first day. The initial couples were Mica & Samraj, Jasmine & Lorenzo, Aiden & Ellie, Angelista & Ope, Lola & Sean, and Robyn & Sam. Sam had earlier approached Ellie, but she had rejected him.

As the Love Island UK Season 13 premiere episode revealed, on Day 2, the islanders played a game of phone roulette where they all had to put their phones in a box. The islanders' phones were then chosen one at a time randomly. A task was sent to the chosen phone in the form of a text, and whoever's phone it was had to complete it.

These tasks were more like dares, and Mica publically admitted how she thought Ope was just pretending to trip for the cameras for attention. Robyn and George shared a kiss, after which George compared Robyn's kiss to Mica's, stating Robyn used

"more tongue."

Aiden then did something which wasn't tasteful to a lot of the islanders. He built his

"perfect girl"

by using Ellie's face, Yasmin's body, and Robyn's personality. This made him look like somebody who was driven primarily by lust. To make matters worse, Aiden even admitted that he likes to play mind games and wants to see Ellie get jealous. Lorenzo was also a controversial figure of the Love Island UK Season 13 premiere episode because he was dismissive of Jasmine, and accidentally called her

"promiscuous"

when he claimed he meant

"mysterious,"

But his intentions are still unclear because he later calls her a

"sassy bitch"

when he was trying to tell her to lower her expectations. Day 2 also saw the arrival of the two bombshells at the villa: Yasmin Hadlow and George Knight. Maya Jama then gave the bombshells a secret power. They were given 24 hours to get to know the islanders, after which they would have to choose any islander they want to dump from the island immediately.

George immediately set his sights on Lola and Robyn, though he openly stated that Ope's

"happy-go-lucky"

energy feels fake to him and expressed his annoyance towards him. Meanwhile, Yasmin has been talking to Aiden and Ope, immediately making their respective counterparts anxious about what's about to happen.
