After an intense first season where Kayce Dutton’s son’s fate took a turn, leaving the viewers eager to know more, Marshals is returning to bring answers to the questions that were left unanswered in the previous season. The second season is set to drop on October 4.
A significant aspect of this series is how the backdrop plays a crucial role in delivering the authenticity of the storyline. The filming locations of Marshals perfectly capture the rugged nature of the storyline and enhance the overall appeal. Here are the details of the filming locations for this Yellowstone spinoff.
Details of the filming locations of Marshals
Marshals was filmed in Utah. There is a significant reason behind choosing Utah as the primary location for the filming process, besides the distinct landscapes and breathtaking scenery. The film incentive program that is present in Utah offers a rebate. For money spent during the production in Utah, it corresponds to cash rebates and credits of tax.
The first season of the series was filmed in Oakley. The East camp scenes, which play a vital role in the storyline, are reportedly filmed at a cabin that is present very close to Oakley in Utah. Much of the first season was filmed in the surrounding areas of Morgan, Wasatch, and Summit. Several real-life locations can also be seen in Marshals. One such significant location is the Ontario Mine, which is located in Park City. The scenes that show the Marshals’ headquarters were filmed at that location.

Both the first season and the second season of the series were filmed primarily in Utah. While speaking to the Utah Film Commission, VP of Production Planning and Finance at Paramount, Adam Morra, revealed how Utah was able to provide “diverse landscapes, fantastic crews, and amazing, knowledgeable film office” for the filming process.
Morra also added that the “film incentive” played a “vital and necessary part” in choosing the location for filming. Besides the landscapes, viewers also come across the Bullet n’ Barrel bar, which plays a significant role in the storyline for the characters. The exterior of the bar is filmed at the Boneyard Saloon, which is also located in Utah at Park City.
The trailer for the second season quickly depicted some of the challenges that Kayce will come across. While speaking about his character, Kayce Dutton, in Marshals Season 2, Luke Grimes notes in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he has fears about his character for the second season. He notes that “everything that could have gone wrong” for Kayce already “goes wrong”, however, he does not want people to get “sick of it”. He also does not want Kayce to “be Debbie Downer”.
A significant change in Kayce that can be seen in the second season is that he will be spending more time with his team in the bar. Grimes notes that as Kayce’s son is “on the verge of turning 18”, he will need to “start seeking community” as he is already aware of the loneliness he might come across. It will be intriguing to see Kayce “invest in his relationship with his teammates," which might lead to getting him out of “his shell in a good way.”
