Taylor Sheridan's iconic Yellowstone franchise is spreading yet another branch with the upcoming neo-western drama Marshals on CBS. Produced by Paramount Television Studios, the series will serve as a sequel to the OG show that had a successful streak for almost seven years.

The latest spin-off Marshals will exclusively premiere on CBS on March 1, 8 p.m. ET, with episodes releasing the next day on Paramount+. The western show will be the fourth entry in the hit franchise as Sheridan takes the lead as executive producer.

The official synopsis of Marshals, per IMDb, reads:

"Ex-Navy SEAL Kayce Dutton leaves Yellowstone Ranch to join U.S. Marshals, using his cowboy and military skills to fight crime in Montana while dealing with family ties and the mental toll of law enforcement."

According to reports, Episode 13 will potentially be the final one in Marshals Season 1. While speaking to Esquire recently, lead star Luke Grimes mentioned that he "did not think I was going to do" the spin-off.

As per his statement, he had doubts about whether doing Marshals "would make any sense" from a creative point of view. To quote his exact words:

"Honestly, I did not think I was going to do it. I remember saying I didn’t know if it would make any sense. Then there were a lot of ideas getting thrown around, and at some point I heard a really good idea and that was kind of it."

Grimes further added:

"I thought, Actually, that opens up the world for him. And putting the hat and jacket back on isn’t all that bad. I really liked playing that character. It was the most fulfilling job I’ve ever had in my life, so I’m happy not to say goodbye to him fully."

Luke Grimes will lead the cast of Marshals alongside returning stars, namely Gil Birmingham (Chief Thomas Rainwater), Brecken Merrill (Tate Dutton, Kayce's son), and Mo Brings Plenty (Mo). Among others in the cast, we have:

  • Arielle Kebbel as Belle Skinner
  • Tatanka Means as Miles Kittle
  • Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz
  • Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Cavin
  • Ellyn Jameson as Dolly Weaver
  • Brett Cullen as Harry Gifford
