Here is the complete recap.

Kayce and Andrea revisit their demons in Marshals Season 2 Episode 4

Marshals Season 2 Episode 4 revealed that Kayce and Andrea were struggling, which led to the side hustle. As hinted in the previous episode, Andrea was struggling with PTSD in the aftermath of Randall Clegg's kidnapping. She was visibly shaken after checking out a new house with a basement in the previous episode. Andrea saw one of Clegg's associates in a mirror in Episode 4, hinting that she is struggling to deal with her kidnapping.

On the other hand, Kayce was struggling to come to terms with his family's history after Tate's kidnapping. Marshals Season 2 Episode 4 began with Kayce having a nightmare about the day he was branded with the Dutton brand. While the physical scar healed, Kayce continues to carry the emotional weight of his family's legacy.

Cal struggles to give up control in Marshals Season 2 Episode 4

Kayce and Andrea's off-hours fugitive mission led them to intel on Rudy Carpenter, the notorious bomber who escaped from the team in Season 1. Cal and the team had to let go of Carpenter to save Tom Weaver's life. While Cal regretted the decision, Kayce assured him it was right and that they would get the man this time.

Since Andrea got the tip on Carpenter, Gifford asked her to lead the investigation, likely setting up new leadership for the team. It's no secret that Cal was about to leave for his medical treatment, and the current case was an opportunity to prepare Andrea to lead the team. While Cal trusted Andrea's capabilities, he struggled to give up control as he had always been in charge of the team.

The difference between Cal and Andrea's leadership style became apparent when the team tracked down Carpenter's ex-wife at a country club. Since Kayce and Andrea were desperate for intel on the man, they used aggressive interrogation methods, and Kayce even used a golf club to confront a security guard. While Andrea maintained their methods produced fruitful results, Cal knew they would not take her far as the team's leader.

Marshals Season 2 Episode 4 concluded on a harrowing cliffhanger

Since time was running out in Marshals Season 2 Episode 4, Cal and the team focused their investigation on Carpenter. The team tracked down the notorious bomber to a nearby barn and geared up to close in on the fugitive. Things took a turn when gunfire erupted between the Marshals and Carpenter, leading to a pleasant outcome. The fugitive appeared badly wounded, and Andrea and Kayce moved forward to take him into custody.

In the final moments of Marshals Season 2 Episode 4, Kayce and Andrea went after Carpenter, but he had a trick up his sleeve. Carpenter had a detonator, and before the duo had time to escape, he blew up the barn, causing a loud explosion. The episode concluded without revealing the fates of Andrea and Kayce, leaving things on a tense cliffhanger.
