Marvel rumored to borrow DC's Lanterns blueprint for its next Disney+ series

Marvel Television isn't stopping, as rumors are circulating that the studio is looking at DC's success with Lanterns and intends to replicate it. The ongoing DCU series pulled in impressive numbers for the first three episodes, making it a huge hit. Therefore, it isn't surprising that the MCU wants to have a gritty detective series of its own.

But you might be wondering which character from the MCU or its source material could fit the description of a detective. Well, while some MCU characters could fit the bill as detectives, it should be noted that this story is one of many Marvel rumors, with the internet scooper DanielRPK/Daniel Richtman as its only source.

Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones is the one MCU Netflix show that's just as heavy as Lanterns. In fact, the Netflix series was dark and gritty over a decade before Lanterns' release, as it dealt with heavy themes like s**ual violence and alcoholism. If the studio revives a Jessica Jones series, it could attract viewership, as season 1 is still considered one of the best Marvel projects.

Misty Knight

Mercedes "Misty" Knight was introduced in Luke Cage Season 1 as an honest Harlem NYPD detective. She loses one of her arms in The Defenders crossover, leading to her getting a bionic arm like the one her comic counterpart uses. Now that Mike Colter's Luke Cage is back, many hope that the same applies to Simone Missick's Misty Knight as well.

This week, Colter addressed his return in a Collider interview:

“It wasn’t at the forefront of my mind, but I really enjoyed playing the character. I probably enjoy it as much for the fans than anything. I think the diehard Luke Cage fans and Marvel fans enjoy these characters, so it’s bringing a bit of joy to their lives. That’s where I am on it right now. I love doing it for the people.”

Mr. Knight

2022's Moon Knight introduced fans to the Marvel equivalent of Batman. However, there is more to this character, as Marc Spector is diagnosed with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). One of Moon Knight's personalities is Mr. Knight, a suit-wearing detective who works with law enforcement in the comics.

The Disney+ series ignored this aspect of the Mr. Knight persona, but the MCU has a chance to adapt this side. There is one catch: Oscar Isaac has not returned to play the character in live action after temporarily returning to voice the character in What If...? Season 3.
