Matori & Kyoken Men in the Back Alleys Episode 4 was released on February 22 on Netflix. In the previous episode, Umezawa seemed to be siding with Katsuragi after he promised him to clear his name. However, by the end of episode 4, Umezawa looked irritated by his orders, which put them in a difficult situation.
The episode starts with Umezawa keeping an eye on Aoi, Kaga's new target, and after talking to her, he realizes that they have known each other since childhood. Umezawa genuinely wanted to help her and requested that she tell all the details that could help them get Kaga arrested.
Kurosaki orders him to go to the club to get more evidence on Kaga, and Umezawa eventually ensures that Kaga takes the cocaine, moving the investigation forward. When Umezawa tells Katsuragi about it, he says they need more evidence because it is not enough for the police to step in.
On the other hand, Kurosaki acknowledges his efforts and says he will arrest Kaga, calling it a sting operation.

Matori & Kyoken Men in the Back Alleys Episode 4 recap: Umezawa takes out the information from Aoi

The Matori & Kyoken Men in the Back Alleys Episode 4 shows Umezawa on a mission to follow Aoi to find more information on Kaga. He even makes contact with her when she struggles to stand straight on the street. Turns out, the two met for the first time on a film set.
As the two begin talking, Umezawa asks if she is in some trouble. However, Aoi denies it. Umezawa adds that there's one celebrity named Kaga who is known for giving drugs to women, and after listening to her story, he just feels concerned for her.
Umezawa was clearly trying to help her and even warned that if she didn't take serious help, she would soon become an addict, which might cost her life. Aoi finally confesses to Umezawa about being drugged, and he passes this information to Kurosaki.
On the other hand, Kaga seems pleased, showing no regret over the woman who died after taking the cocaine he gave her.
Matori & Kyoken Men in the Back Alleys Episode 4 recap: Umezawa changes his appearance to gather evidence on Kaga

Kurosaki and Umezawa find Kaga going into a club with a woman, and Kurosaki asks him to sneak in as a waiter. Kurosaki, at this point, wants evidence that he can further use to enter the club and arrest him. On the other hand, Katsuragi also knows about Umezawa's whereabouts and wants to catch Kaga before Kurosaki does.
Umezawa knocks out a waiter to enter the room as his substitute. Upon entering, he offers Kaga the drugs. However, Kaga, who is very cautious, asks Umezawa to try it first. Umezawa takes out the loxoprofen sodium and inhales it to gain Kaga's trust, and soon after, Kaga takes the actual drugs, along with the others in the room.
Umezawa gives Katsuragi a call, updating him on the recent actions. Though he asks Umezawa to go back inside and get more evidence, as that's not enough for him to enter the club. From his actions, it feels like Katsuragi only cares about his own promotion, as he stated earlier, and doesn't care about Umezawa's effort or his safety.
Kurosaki takes the mission forward
Umezawa was clearly disappointed with Katsuragi's reply. Just then, Kurosaki enters and asks why Umezawa was not responding to his calls. Umezawa says that he made Kaga do the drugs, but that sure isn't enough to get him arrested.
Kurosaki lets him know that it's enough to get him arrested, which surprises Umezawa. Kurosaki adds that while sting operations are not allowed in the police, they are allowed in narcotics. Until now, Katsuragi seemed to be Umezawa's first choice when it came to passing the information. However, the ending might change the dynamics.
