It is expected to tie up all the storylines which have been built up since the first season, which premiered in November 2021.Looks like the fifth season is going to be set after the events of the season 4 finale. For the uninitiated, Kyle avenged the murder of Tracy by brutally executing the Aryan Brotherhood leader Merle Callahan. Now, Mike and Kyle will face the repercussions of executing Merle in Mayor of Kingstown Season 5, as FBI agent Russell Hardy (David Morse) arrives in Kingstown to search for Callahan.Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 premiere date revealed: View this post on Instagram Instagram PostThe images confirm that we will see the return of Nina Hobbs (Edie Falco), Ian Ferguson (Hugh Dillon), Derek Webster (Stevie), Bunny Washington (Tobi Bamtefa), Cindy Stephens (Laura Benanti), Rebecca (Nichole Galicia), Frank Moses (Lennie James), and Necar Zadegan (Evelyn Foley) when Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 returns on January 15, 2027.However, the most exciting addition to the cast of the fifth season is David Morse. He is playing an FBI agent who is searching for Merle Callahan, who, unbeknownst to him, is dead. But it seems that the FBI agent will slowly transform into the central antagonist of the fifth season as he decides to look into Mike McLusky. The official synopsis hints at this:"This season, in the wake of Tracy's murder and the vengeance visited upon Callahan by Mike (Renner) and Kyle (Taylor Handley), FBI agent Russell Hardy (David Morse) arrives in Kingstown searching for the "fugitive" Callahan."It continues:"A true lawman, Agent Hardy threatens to unearth all of Mike’s sins and secrets, and disrupt Kingstown's tenuous balance of power. The balance is absolutely at risk in this final season; make no mistake. Who makes it out of Kingstown alive by the end of this is very much up in the air."Looks like the fifth season will consist of eight episodes: View this post on Instagram Instagram PostThe final season consists of eight episodes, which was confirmed recently.
