BBC has recently released true crime docuseries Murder 24/7: The Shocking murder of Delivery Driver Part 2 on their official YouTube channel. The story is about the shocking murder of a 23-year-old DPD delivery driver, Aurman Singh, who was attacked by eight masked men while delivering parcels on Berwick Avenue in Shrewsbury. The driver was killed on August 21, 2023.
The group reportedly received information about his delivery route from his colleague, Sukhmandeep Singh. As sources tell, several weapons like an axe, a shovel, and other tools were carried by the attackers. Aurman suffered fatal injuries during the assault, and later was declared dead at the location.
The investigation began after the attackers escaped in an Audi and a white Mercedes. After a massive manhunt by the West Mercia Police, four men and Sukhmandeep were caught and charged with the murder of Aurman, but four suspects who had escaped in the white Mercedes were not caught. That vehicle was recovered and sent for testing, but the occupants were nowhere to be seen.
Investigators are now working day and night to catch the accused and bring them all to justice. In the case of multiple offenders, it might just have to be done in stages. They can't expect to get away with it.

Murder 24/7: West Mercia Police begins manhunt for the missing suspects
After the death of the DPD driver, police examined the case of extreme violence and concluded that robbery was not the reason. One police official stated,
"It's a complicated picture unless you've been on it from the start. Our task ahead now is to identify the other four that are outstanding with a view to arrest and get them charged as well."
Investigators are still trying to find out what the suspects did afterwards and how they managed to leave the local area despite the discovery of CCTV footage showing the suspects abandoning the white Mercedes.
Murder 24/7 shows that the team decides to check the CCTV surveillance footage of the entry and exit of the train stations. Then, the entire team rushes to the nearest station to check multiple cameras. After seeing the footage for two hours, they spot two men.
Murder 24/7: SOCIU joins West Mercia Police to launch multiple raids
Murder 24/7 highlights that the West Mercia Police team calls in the Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCIU) to try and put names to the faces. Digging into financial records and CCTV, SOCIU and the investigation team deduce that one of the occupants of the Mercedes used a phone to make a purchase at a petrol station.
By accessing that data, they're able to connect the purchase to a mobile phone number, which is registered to someone called Harpreet Singh, who was also a match for the man seen running at the train station shortly after the murder.
Murder 24/7 also reveals that the police are able to identify key locations used by him and his associates by accessing Harpreet Singh's social media accounts. The team is now ready to launch multiple raids with strike teams 1, 2, and 3.
Murder 24/7: The investigation team discovers the cars of the other two suspects
While SOCIU has drawn a blank hunting for its suspect, the forensics team has been running tests on both cars recovered after the attack. In the front of the Audi, a crisp packet was found and sent for fingerprint analysis. A single fingerprint has also been recovered from the packet, and when it was run through the database, it threw up a new name, Sahajpal Singh.
The police reportedly told one of the forensics team members,
"What it does show is an association to the people within the Audi. A packet of crisps he's had his fingers on has ended up in the centre console. I take it his name appears on their subscriber jack."
Murder 24/7 further reveals that the team runs a series of checks on Sahajpal's social media. Shortly before the day of the murder, they discover a photo of Sahajpal with an unnamed man, who's a match for the person seen with him in the CCTV. When this image is run through facial recognition software, it throws up a name for a third suspect, Mahatdeep Singh.
West Mercia Police finds the fourth suspect
In Murder 24/7, the police find the fourth suspect, Harvinder Singh Turner, by following a trail that takes them to Border Force, who report a person seen leaving the UK for India only a few days after the murder.
Further checks with Border Force reveal Harvinder isn't the only suspect to have escaped to India. Harpreet is also thought to be there. That leaves detectives concentrating on the remaining two suspects. They analyze their financial and mobile data and get a hit.
The police arrested the suspects
According to the investigation reports shown in Murder 24/7, Mahakdeep’s bank account had been used to book a hotel in Paris on the sixth of this month, and there were also recent transactions in Austria. This proved that the suspects had managed to cross the channel.
Soon after, an email arrived from Mr. Parsons at the CPS, stating that the evidence, combined with material from the existing case file, gave a realistic chance of convicting each suspect for murder. He directed police to charge Harpreet Singh, Harvinder Singh-Turner, Sir Harjpal Singh, and Mihak Deep Singh with the murder of Aurman Singh on August 21, 2023.
As per one of the female investigators,
"Sir Harjpal and Mihak Deep Singh are believed to be in Austria and therefore within the reach of attacker warrant. Right, so I've got some news from Austria.
She continued saying,
"So they were actually stopped by police in Salzburg, entering Austria. We've got an address where they live in and they've included pictures. Fingerprints are on the way. And they've also provided an address of employment as well."
After receiving the arrest warrant from Interpol, the Austrian police contacted West Mercia and prepared to carry out the arrest.
The investigator report states that Armaan Singh was killed during a violent attack involving several men who left their vehicles armed with weapons. Mahakdeep’s defense claims he only intended to frighten Singh and denies striking him with the hockey stick he carried.
He says he was shocked by the level of violence from others and ran off after seeing Singh seriously injured, not wanting to be blamed. However, Dr Lockear’s medical report notes curved injuries to the left side of Singh’s scalp, which probably indicates the use of a hockey stick.
