SBS K-drama My Sassy Girl came out in 2017. While it is inspired by the 2001 Korean movie, the K-drama includes a big twist in the story: it takes place during the Joseon era.
The K-drama follows the story of a genius scholar named Gyeon Woo, whose life gets entangled with Princess Hye-myung when he returns to Joseon from China and begins tutoring the Prince. The K-drama stars Joo Won and Oh Yeon-seo, among numerous other popular actors.

1) Joo Won as Gyeon Woo
Joo Won plays the character of Gyeon Woo in the SBS K-drama. After gaining immense fame in China, the scholar decides to return to his homeland, Joseon. There, he goes on to become the tutor for the young prince and meets the sassy princess, Hye-mung. As he begins to frequent his visits to the palace, their chaotic love story begins to unfold.
The 38-year-old actor has also appeared in K-dramas such as Ojakgyo Family, Good Doctor, and The Midnight Studio, among others.
2) Oh Yeon-seo as Princess Hye-myung
Oh Yeon-seo plays Princess Hye-myung in My Sassy Girl. She is known for her strong-willed personality and catches Gyeon Woo's eye due to her peculiar behaviour. The duo does not like each other at first, but later begin to fall in love. While continuing her mischievous activities around the castle, she also tries to learn more about her mother, who is said to have passed away.
The popular South Korean actress has been a part of various K-dramas over the years, which include shows such as Jang Bo-ri Is Here!, A Korean Odyssey, Nice to Not Meet You, and is currently appearing in the popular K-drama, Positively Yours.
3) Kim Yoon-hye as Jung Da-yeon
Yoon-hye plays the second lead, Da-yeon, in the period K-drama. She is the daughter of the cunning left minister Jung Ki-joon. She is described as an entitled character who gets infatuated with Gyeon Woo, and as a result, becomes a problem in Hye-myung and Gyeon Woo's growing closeness.
The actress has also appeared in popular K-dramas such as 18 Again, Vincenzo, and Love Scout, among others.
4) Lee Jung-shin as Kang Joon-young
Apart from a character interested in Gyeon Woo, Hye-myung herself has another admirer in the SBS K-drama. Jung-shin's character Joon-young is an inspector and a long-time admirer of the Princess.
