The Secret of Secrets adaptation has finally found its Robert Langdon, with The Gilded Age star Morgan Spector taking on the role made famous by Tom Hanks. The news was announced by Netflix on July 27, a year after Netflix officially confirmed a TV adaptation of Dan Brown's The Secret of Secrets.
Spector last appeared in Caity, released this year, and has one more project lined up, titled Moonfish. In the The Secret of Secrets adaptation, based on the novel written by Dan Brown, Spector will play the character of Robert Langdon. Langdon is the main hero of Dan Brown's thriller novels, solving mysteries with his knowledge. The series is being led by showrunner Carlton Cuse, famous for Lost, Rampage, and Jack Ryan.
Speaking of Morgan Spector joining as Langdon in The Secret of Secrets adaptation, Cuse told Tudum that Spector is the right choice to play Robert Langdon, a smart professor who solves mysteries using his knowledge, as the actor brings intelligence and depth to every role.

Morgan Spector will take over the role of Robert Langdon from Tom Hanks. Hanks played the famous character in The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno, making Spector the new face of the character. After Tom Hanks, Ashley Zukerman played the role of Robert Langdon in The Lost Symbol, released in 2021. The series received 6.3 stars on IMDb and 60% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Dan Brown has written six Robert Langdon novels so far. And most of them have already been adapted for the screen, with The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Inferno, and The Lost Symbol, with The Secret of Secrets becoming the latest Robert Langdon adaptation.
Speaking about the The Secret of Secrets adaptation, Cuse said he was excited to work with Dan Brown on Robert Langdon's next story. He added that the show has mystery, romance, and an interesting story set in Prague, which made him want to bring it to the screen.
As of now, the upcoming series doesn't have a confirmed title or a release date. Additionally, the complete cast list has not been revealed yet, leaving interested viewers with speculations about who will be joining the upcoming series alongside Morgan Spector.
Dan Brown's novel, released in September last year, has many important characters, including Katherine Solomon, Sasha Vesna, Everett Finch, and the Golěm. It will be interesting to see who will bring these characters to life in the adaptation. While the total number of episodes has not been revealed, the series is expected to run for around eight hours in total, as Cuse told Tudum.
The news of The Secret of Secrets adaptation was first announced by Netflix in May 2025. However, this is not the first time Netflix is working on the book-to-screen adaptation, as the platform has previously also delivered successful series like Missing You and Little House on the Prairie.
While most of the details are kept private as of now, Netflix has revealed what The Secret of Secrets adaptation will be about by stating that it will follow Robert Langdon trying to find a missing scientist and recover her important manuscript before it's too late. Along the way, he discovers dangerous secrets while solving mysteries across different places.
