Netflix expands the cast of its highly awaited Untamed Season 2 by adding Shea Whigham

Untamed Season 2 has now onboarded Shea Whigham in its ensemble cast, making fans excited for the show's return.

The show brings the tale of a federal agent who gets dragged into the lawless world where nature decides its own course. Shea Whigham will step into the world of Untamed as Ray Burkart, a businessman who had shifted to Hawai'i many years ago.

Season 2 will explore pristine landscapes, focusing on the park's beauty, but it will also unleash a different take on it. One filled with challenges but contoured by the cultural identity and Turner's new state of mind.

Such was the hint laid out in an interview reported by Netflix Tudum, by co-showrunners and executive producers Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith.

“We’re excited to explore the pristine landscapes and cultural identity of a very different national park, and find Turner in a new state of mind, outside the comfort of Yosemite."

The contemporary TV landscape richly explores stories that focus on national parks and similar landscapes. Yellowstone focused on the ranch and developed a story that was strong enough to run through multiple seasons and multiple spin-offs.

Now Season 2 of Untamed is also in line. Ray Whigham's character is a man who left California for Hawaii’s Big Island almost three decades ago and became involved in a weird mix of legitimate and questionable businesses.

Whigham’s casting isn’t a surprise, as he has been appearing frequently on screen lately. The latest Whigham title was American Primeval, the neo-noir thriller Lake George, Eileen, where he was seen sharing the screen with Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie.

He was also a part of Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning. He is represented by WME and Range, and his addition adds momentum to Untamed season 2.

He tragically loses his son and is driven by grief and anger, putting him on a collision course with Turner as both seek to unveil what drove the tragedy. The conflict between Turner, the federal agent, and Burkart is expected to form the heart and soul of the returning season.

The other confirmed appearance, besides Whigham, is that of Eric Bana, who plays the federal agent in the show. Details on the show are not widely available yet.
