From watching shows on television to streaming on platforms such as Netflix, viewership patterns have changed through the years. However, one thing that remains constant is the search for good shows and movies to watch. Mediocrity is never something that viewers have been eager to watch, and viewers have always criticized when such projects get pushed to the forefront over projects that actually have gripping content.

Through the years, among the many streaming platforms, Netflix has become one of the biggest ones. However, with the pricing changes, along with the aspect of cancelling shows with potential and choosing to push shows that do not have significant content, the streaming platform has received immense criticism from the viewers.

It cannot be denied that Netflix has many gripping TV shows, which have paved the way to make it a global streaming giant. However, through the years, many viewers have pointed out that the focus of the streaming platform has shifted towards TV shows that often lack depth and intensity. In recent years, many good shows have been cancelled, while shows that lack depth have continued to get renewals.

With the huge amount of content, along with multiple streaming platforms that are present now, viewers are not eager to watch content that is mediocre. Hence, these mediocre shows getting renewals for several seasons has caused the viewers to be quite disappointed with Netflix. Viewers have also pointed out that the rise in subscription prices is not an issue; rather, the lack of good TV shows is the primary disappointing factor.

It is not rare to see TV shows getting cancelled when they fail to receive a positive response from the viewers. However, there have been several instances when, despite the positive response from the viewers, the shows got cancelled. Some of these shows had, along with a positive response from viewers, quite a few unanswered questions left to solve when they got cancelled, leading to greater disappointment from fans.

Mindhunter, which dives into the story of two FBI agents who get involved in the search for the psychology behind murders, which in turn causes them to get intertwined with crimes. The intense storytelling blended with the impeccable performance of the cast members quickly gained immense recognition from the viewers.

However, soon after the second season, the show was cancelled. Viewers took to the internet to voice their disappointment about the cancellation. The cancellation of Shadow and Bone, a fantasy series that dives into the story of a girl with immense power that eventually pushes her into a dangerous path where she has to question everything, also caused a huge uproar.

This series had talented cast members such as Ben Barnes, Dean Lennox Kelly, etc., and had quickly become a fan-favorite. The cancellation was done midway through the series, leaving the storyline unfinished with many questions, such as the ones related to Alina’s shadow abilities, the attack of Six of Crows, etc.

Yet another shocking termination came when GLOW was cancelled in 2020. The blend of humor and depth that the series had was rare to find. Even though the show was renewed for the fourth season, the decision was changed, and the series ended with only three seasons.

Many viewers have also pointed out that they are ready to pay more for better content, indicating that the issue is not with the rising prices but rather the mediocrity in the content on the streaming platform.
