Netflix's Tantara starring Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo reveals premiere date

Netflix has revealed the premiere date of Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo's upcoming drama, Tantara. And viewers won't have to wait much longer, as the series is scheduled to premiere on December 11, which is less than two months away. The news was announced in a Netflix press release on October 22.

Tantara is directed by Lee Yoon-jung, famous for The Lies Within and Coffee Prince, and written by Noh Hee-gyoung, known for Our Blues and It's Okay, That's Love.

The cast of the upcoming Korean drama includes famous faces, like Song Hye-kyo (famous for The Glory, Descendants of the Sun, and Encounter) and Gong Yoo (famous for Squid Game, Coffee Prince, and The Silent Sea). Other cast members include Kim Seol-hyun, Lee Hanee, and Cha Seung-won.

When is Tantara releasing on Netflix?

Tantara is releasing on December 11 on Netflix. Interested viewers will need a subscription to the streaming platform to watch the episodes. The standard plan with ads costs $8.99 per month. Viewers who prefer watching the episodes without getting interrupted by ads can choose the standard plan that costs $19.99 per month.

According to MyDramaList, the drama will consist of twenty-two episodes in total, and each episode has a duration of fifty minutes. Additionally, instead of releasing new episodes every week, Netflix will make all twenty-two episodes available on the same day, allowing viewers to watch the entire series at their own convenience.

What is Tantara about?

Tantara takes viewers back to the Korean entertainment industry between the 1960s and 1980s, when many people had very little to their name. The story follows a group of people as they try to make a name for themselves and build the lives they have always wanted and dreamt of.

The series follows Min-ja, played by Song Hye-kyo, who has been through a difficult childhood and had to take up all kinds of jobs to live her life. But she doesn't let her past stop her from building a better future as she decides to get into the music industry, hoping to be successful. Viewers will also see Dong-gu, her childhood friend, by her side as a support system who stays with her through the journey and does everything he can to help her.

Min-hui, a talented singer with a voice that can get everyone's attention, also becomes an important part of their journey as their very first artist. They also have Seok Gil-yeo on their side. He is a famous hitmaker who has helped many new singers become big names in the music industry. The drama will follow them as they bring their dreams to life despite having very little to start with. Viewers will also get to see the struggles they go through and the choices they have to make along the way to become successful.

Additionally, Netflix has also released a new poster for Tantara, showing Min-ja and Dong-gu as they begin their journey in the music industry. The poster also features Min-hui singing alongside Seok Gil-yeo, who is playing the saxophone.

Netflix is already home to popular Korean dramas like The Glory and Squid Game, which gained worldwide popularity after their release. Both shows also went on to have more than one season. Now, with another drama starring Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo, we can't wait to see what Tantara has in store for us when it premieres on December 11.
