Netflix’s Wrath dives into the tragic story of a man’s survival through devastating past circumstances and a complicated present. The series starts with Toni Trindade, the owner of a fight academy, coming across an injured man. After helping the man, Toni’s life takes a turn when this unnamed man, whom he names Marcello, becomes the source of his hope.

After losing his only chance to clear his debts when his star fighter, Junior Malamute, goes to a rival academy, Toni decides to train Marcelo to fight so that he can save his academy from the debt collectors. Soon, he realizes Marcelo has a tragic past, which completely changes the trajectory of the storyline. The ending of Wrath unveils Marcelo’s past along with the danger that he gets caught up in as his past resurfaces.

Netflix’s Wrath ends with shocking revelations about Marcelo’s tragic past. In his past, Marcelo had ties with an illegal fighting ring. From the beginning of the series, it is depicted that Marcelo had the ability to quickly learn how to fight after he arrived at Toni’s academy. The ending of the first season reveals that Marcelo, whose real name is Tadeu, was kidnapped by an illegal fighting ring.

He also has a wife and son, whose name is Marcelo. In his past, he tried his best to earn money for his family, but was not able to. He eventually came across a man who gave him the opportunity to fight in underground rings to make money.

Marcelo took the opportunity and slowly began to earn money from the fights. However, it was not enough, so he made the decision to leave town to fight more for a month after the man gave him a better opportunity.

Not knowing the true nature of these fights, Marcelo found himself caged and tormented for fights. His only way to survive through it all was to fight and kill his opponents. On the other hand, his family, who were not aware that Marcelo was taken away, eventually started to believe that he had abandoned them. Though Marcelo’s wife moved on, his son was not able to.

Wrath’s ending reveals a heartbreaking turn of events when Marcelo’s son arrives to meet his father in Rio. His son came across a video where he saw that his father is still alive and fighting. Though he comes across multiple challenges while trying to meet his father, he is able to meet him. Marcelo’s wife, Luzia, also follows her son to the tournament, where they find Marcelo.

Wrath’s ending also shows Marcelo and Malamute's intense fight. At the beginning of the series, it was depicted that Malamute was quite strong. However, as the series progressed, through the intense twists and turns that Marcelo had to face, he honed his skills further to face Malamute. During their final fight, Malamute resorted to many dirty tricks to bring down Marcelo. He even hit Marcelo’s head where the bullet is lodged to disorient Marcelo; however, Marcelo does not back down.

Even though the attack on his head disoriented him for a moment, he was able to regain his pace and fight back with utmost fervor. In the end, Marcelo came out victorious. Right after he wins the match, Marcelo’s son runs towards him, and the two of them share a heartwarming moment.

His wife also joins them, leading to a happy family reunion. Marcelo has gone through numerous difficulties, from being taken away from his family to fight in illegal rings to eventually being able to reunite with them once again.

The series perfectly captures the depth of Marcelo’s storyline. At the very end of Season 1, after Marcelo is announced as the winner, the truth about Henrique Novaes is also revealed by his own daughter, Yana. On the big projector screen, the illegal fights that Henrique was a part of are shown. Though Henrique tries to escape, he is captured by the police. Before his arrest, he also warns his daughter about the next move he will make.

Marcelo, after navigating through these dangerous situations in his past, is eventually able to move forward with his life. The bandana that was used on him to hide his identity during the illegal fights for which he was kidnapped was finally burned by him.

The bandana signified the tragedy he had to go through, and burning it depicts his eventual freedom from it. The manner in which past struggles and present difficulties are depicted in Wrath leaves a lasting impact. The cast members have done a commendable job in bringing life to their corresponding characters, making this series a memorable one.
