Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is three episodes in, with five more episodes left. In one of these episodes, we will see Jessica Jones returning to the MCU. While she hasn't debuted in the series yet, the trailers have already confirmed her return. In the most recent trailer, we saw Matt and Jessica reunite for the first time since 2017's The Defenders.

There, Jessica tells Matt that the AVTF attacked her at home. While doing so, she also reveals that she has a daughter. In the comics, Jessica and Luke Cage marry and go on to have a daughter together named Danielle Cage.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2: Who is Danielle Cage?

As mentioned, Danielle is Luke Cage and Jessica Jones' daughter in the comics; however, it is unclear if the former is the child's father in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. However, her appearance in the MCU has one chance that Danielle's comic book counterpart hardly had: the chance to grow up. In the comics, Danielle is a child most of the time in the main Marvel Universe.

There are some out-of-continuity comics where Danielle goes on to become either Captain America or even Thor. In Earth-15061, Danielle takes up the mantle of Captain America after completing her training under Natasha Romanoff. But most of the time, Danielle is a child most of the time. Therefore, her mention and possible appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 may set her up as a hero for the future.

Will Danielle appear physically in the ongoing season?

As of now, it is unconfirmed if Jessica Jones' daughter (unclear if the child is named Danielle Cage or not) will appear in Born Again Season 2 or not. Moreover, we don't know if the father of Jessica's daughter is Luke Cage or not. We will learn more by the time Jessica appears in the series. Moreover, the set images of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 confirm the return of Mike Colter and Finn Jones.

Therefore, we will learn more after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 streams its finale next month. Brad Winderbaum, last February, said that Marvel was exploring the possibilities of bringing back The Defenders in an Entertainment Weekly interview:

“I can't say much, but I'll tell you that it's so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book. If you can draw it, you can do it. It's dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."

It seems that Jessica Jones' return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 was the first piece of the puzzle to revive The Defenders in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While confirming her return, Krysten Ritter said this last May:

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”

The fourth episode of Born Again Season 2 will drop tonight on Disney+.
