After three seasons of charged, intense criminal storytelling, Season 4 will tackle another notorious murder mystery that made headlines: Lizzie Borden. She was rumored to have murdered both her parents (father and stepmother) with an axe. The case became one of the most talked about crime mysteries of the 1890s.

The true crime saga has covered many notorious characters in its story so far. Dahmer's infamous serial killings were the case dealt with in the first season and the second took viewers to the tense period during the Menendez brothers' killings.
Ed Gein's story became the subject of Season 3. Somewhere around the time when Ed Gein story was taking shape for screen portrayal, the fourth season was confirmed.
Borden's case was a sensation and her case ran for some time before she was acquitted. According to a report, the filming of the show has shifted to Italy, where shooting will continue.
According to a previous report by Deadline, Rebecca Hall will be seen as Lizzie's stepmother. Apart from her, Vicky Krieps is rumored to be joining the cast to play a maid. Max Winkler, a frequent collaborator within the Ryan Murphy universe, is set to direct the pilot episode.
All three actors are already part of Murphy’s creative ecosystem. Beatty was previously seen in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. Rebecca Hall stars in Murphy’s The Beauty.

- Season 2 was titled The Menendez Murders Monster and premiered on in January 2023.
- Season 3 Ed Gein Monster: premiered on Netflix on October 6, 2023.
According to reports published online, filming activities in Italy have been going on since January this year. An expected wrap date is slated to be on March 10.
