Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 trailer teases the creation of the One Ring and a united army against Sauron
As The Rings of Power Season 3 trailer reveals, Sauron and his armies have conquered much of the world, leaving only a few kingdoms capable of resisting him. According to Amazon News, The Rings of Power Season 3 will be set five years after the events of Season 2.
Sauron's main goal this season will be to forge the One Ring as he works day and night in his fortress of Barad-dûr in Mordor. This ring will give him the power to rule over all other ring bearers. As the original Lord of the Rings films revealed, Sauron will succeed in forging the ring in the fires of Mount Doom, and we also see him wearing the ring in the Season 3 trailer.
After losing Eregion and their master smith, Celebrimbor, the elves now have to protect their remaining realms, Lindon and Rivendell. Galadriel and Elrond will play important roles in defending their people and finding ways to resist Sauron's growing power.
Meanwhile, the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm will remain isolated inside their mountain kingdom. Following King Durin III's death, his son, Durin IV, has to deal with the consequences of the rings of power and the threat of the Balrog lurking beneath their home. However, the dwarves may eventually have to leave their kingdom and join the fight against Sauron.
The human kingdoms will also be an important part of Season 3. The Nine Rings intended for mortal men will gradually corrupt their bearers, setting the stage for the creation of the early, human forms of the Ringwraiths.
Gandalf now knows who he is and what his purpose is in life. As revealed by The Rings of Power Season 3 trailer, despite the Dark Wizard asking him to kneel to Sauron so that they might use a grander scheme to bring the dark lord down, Gandalf will fight him head-on. We also see Gandalf face the Nazgûl and a dangerous creature sent by Sauron.
In Season 3, as Sauron gets dangerously close to possessing the power of the One Ring, humans, elves, dwarves, and wizards will have to unite and defeat him before he destroys them and their kingdoms.
The new cast members joining The Rings of Power Season 3 are Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, Zubin Varla as Khamûl, Eddie Marsan as Thráin, Andrew Richardson as Anarion, Adam Young as Marnûkh, and Simon Pegg as the voice of The Balrog.
The returning cast members include Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Benjamin Walker as Gil-galad, Daniel Weyman as Gandalf, and Ciarán Hinds as the Dark Wizard, among others.
The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on Prime Video with the first four episodes on November 11, 2026.
