New The Summer I Turned Pretty filming update suggests the movie will release sooner than we think

The Summer I Turned Pretty film was first announced at the Paris red carpet celebration of the show's finale. The film will conclude the story of Isabel, aka Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. While we did see Belly and Conrad end up together at the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, there's apparently more to the story.

The books ended with Belly and Conrad getting married on Cousins Beach, while the show ended with the couple reuniting in Paris and then later taking a trip to the house on Cousins Beach. But the film will continue the story with an original story. No date of release has been confirmed yet, but an article by Deadline has revealed that the film will begin production in April, which means that the film will release sooner than we think.

The Summer I Turned Pretty film filming update

So far, no major updates about The Summer I Turned Pretty film have been revealed by Prime Video. The film's plot is still under wraps, and all we know is which of the cast members from the show are returning for the film. But an article by Deadline was recently published that explored an issue between the cast members and the studio regarding salaries, which also mentioned when filming for the upcoming feature film will begin.

According to Deadline, The Summer I Turned Pretty film will begin filming on April 27, 2026. Deadline's article also mentions that the cast would be filming for approximately three months, and thus, we can expect filming to wrap up by the end of July or the first week of August. If that does happen, the film might just get released towards the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027 if post-production gets completed by then.

This is great news for fans of the show who have loved Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, and other characters of the show for the three seasons of the show and made it the global success it is. The characters will be returning for the last time in the The Summer I Turned Pretty film, and we might just get to see the wedding of Conrad and Belly.

The Summer I Turned Pretty film will star Lola Tung as Isabel Conklin, Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher, Gavin Casalegno as Conrad’s younger brother Jeremiah Fisher, Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin, Jackie Chung as Laurel Park, Rain Spencer as Taylor Jewel, Rachel Blanchard as Susannah Fisher, Colin Ferguson as John Conklin, and Tom Everett Scott as Adam Fisher. Details about the additional cast members joining the film will be revealed later on in due time.

The film is written by Han Kucserka and Sarah Kucserka. Jenny Han is directing the film. The Summer I Turned Pretty film will begin filming on April 27, 2026, and will most likely be released towards the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.
