VisionQuest continues to intrigue its viewers in the second week, as the third and fourth episodes streamed on Disney+ this Wednesday. The third episode introduces the mysterious synthetic character, Jocasta. We see this female synthezoid murdering a man in the first act of the third episode. She fights Paladin in the same episode, and her consciousness gets entangled with that of Vision.

Thus, the fourth episode is focused exclusively on Vision trying to stop Jocasta from murdering the board members of Markridge Biotech. In the last act, we are told that Jocasta is murdering the board members because they took something from her. We don't know what they took from her, which means that we look at another VisionQuest fan theory.

This VisionQuest theory suggests that Jocasta lost a loved one:

Instagram user @jenkz.p put forth a theory about Jocasta in the Disney+ series. According to this fan, Dr. Josephine Carrington and the first synthetic being J.I.M. fell in love. For the uninitiated, the last act of episode 4 reveals that Josephine Carrington and Jocasta are one and the same. VisionQuest doesn't go into detail about Jocasta's backstory, but we may get it in the upcoming episodes.

According to the theory, the board members took J.I.M. offline when the android burst into flames because he and Josephine were in love. But there is one specific problem with this theory.

VisionQuest has described J.I.M. as the first synthetic being:

The android Human Torch/Jim Hammond is one of the earliest Marvel characters in the pages of comics, as his first appearance was in 1939. In the comics, the android scared people by spontaneously bursting into flames. VisionQuest alludes to this. The only problem is that we don't know when this incident happened in the overall timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Disney+ MCU series doesn't confirm when J.I.M. was created, but it does confirm that Markridge Biotech was sold to Stark Industries in the 2000s. Moreover, the AI programs inside Vision's head describe J.I.M. as if he were created in the 20th century. You must remember that we did see "The Synthetic Man" in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.

VisionQuest even makes a reference to "The Synthetic Man", which we saw in the 2011 movie. On the other hand, Dr. Josephine Carrington is active in the AI field in the 2000s. Therefore, I think that Jocasta is avenging something else entirely.

The Markridge Biotech board might have taken Josephine Carrington's humanity away:

We see Mary McDonnell's Katerina Wells, the surviving member of the Markridge Biotech board, talk about transhumanism. For those who don't know, Britannica describes transhumanism as a:

"Philosophical and scientific movement that advocates the use of current and emerging technologies—such as genetic engineering, cryonics, artificial intelligence (AI), and nanotechnology—to augment human capabilities and improve the human condition."

The first act of the fourth episode reveals that Dr. Josephine Carrington is dead. However, the final act reveals that Katerina knew that Josephine and Jocasta are one and the same. This hints that Katerina and other board members were somehow involved in taking Josephine's humanity away or even killing her.

But her consciousness was somehow transferred into a robot body. Now equipped with a new immortal body, Josephine decides to avenge the injustice meted out to her human form. We don't know anything else about her plans for now, but the coming weeks will give us a clearer picture of Jocasta's plans.

"Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including Friday, Edith, Jarvis, and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate."
