Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is currently filming, and the latest leak seems to confirm another major return. Elodie Yung is finally back as The Man Without Fear's on-again-off-again girlfriend, Elektra Natchios. Elektra was introduced in Daredevil Season 2 back in 2016, when the series was still streaming on Netflix. Yung was last seen in Defenders, which dropped on the streaming giant nine years ago.

For a long time, her fate remained unconfirmed as she was trapped inside a falling building at the end of The Defenders. Now, almost a decade later, Elektra is back in the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. However, her role in the upcoming season is currently unclear.

What do we know about Elektra's role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3?

The circumstances behind Elektra's return remain unclear, but we will learn more when Born Again Season 3 begins streaming on Disney+ next year. In the leaked set video, we can see that Elektra is wearing a hood, but portions of her red costume and boots are visible. We also see her holding her Sai as she probably heads for a hunt by opening a door.

In the comics, there's an unnamed female Muse who fights Daredevil. However, this Daredevil is not Matt Murdock, but Elektra. The cover of Unleash Hell - Red Band #3, published last year, showed the new Muse holding Elektra's Daredevil by the latter's scarf as the serial killer holds a bloodied arrow in her free hand.

We know that Margarita Levieva's Heather Glenn is transforming into Muse in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Given that Matt is in prison, and Elektra is returning to the MCU, many are wondering if she is taking up her ex-boyfriend's vigilante alter-ego in the upcoming season. Her clash with Heather's Muse could result in the recreation of the cover.

Make no mistake, Elektra's return and Heather's transformation into the psychotic serial killer might be signs that Dario Scardapane and his team are planning to recreate the Unleash Hell - Red Band #3. The showrunner addressed the possibility of Elodie Yung and Jessica Henwick returning as Elektra and Colleen Wing, respectively, before the season 2 finale's release:

"The best way I could put this without giving too much away is that what we do when we’re in the writer’s room is we go and look at some of the iconic comic book runs. We look at a lot of the things that seem to make sense in the story that we’re moving forward, and then when the time comes to bring a character in or to add a storyline, we have our wish list."

Dario Scardapane then added:

"Everybody you have mentioned so far is on that wish list. There’s the stuff that I would love to do, there’s the stuff that they’re doing in the larger MCU, and sometimes those align, and sometimes they don’t."

Alluding to the writers who influenced the overall vibe of Daredevil: Born Again, the showrunner added:

"The world that we’re doing with this show is very Frank Miller-esque, for lack of a better word. Chip [Zdarsky] and [Brian Michael] Bendis, those artists and writers, they have a very kind of particular tone and a particular sweet spot, and a lot of the characters that you’ve mentioned work in that sweet spot."

Are you excited for Elektra Natchios' return? The first two seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and the original series are streaming on Disney+.
