Apple TV has dropped the first official teaser for Widow's Bay, and from everything we can see, it's a whirlwind of emotions; a blend of comedy and horror. The show follows Matthew Rhys who plays Mayor Tom Loftis, a guy who's the opposite of what a small-town leader should be. He's weak, he knows it, and everyone on this isolated New England island knows it too. But he's got one goal: to save his dying community and give his teenage son a better future.

So he somehow convinces tourists to actually visit this cursed island town. And it even works, as people show up, money starts flowing, everything's finally looking up. Then all the creepy things the locals warned him about starts actually happening, as it turns out the old stories weren't just folklore. .

The teaser starts with Loftis talking about "superstitions" of the town, as visuals of horrifying instances fill up the screen, but before you get into it, the teaser stops at a joke about cannibalism.

From what we can see in the visuals, and Rhys in the lead, Widow's Bay would be a delightful watch, and a much needed horror retreat.

“Widow’s Bay is a quaint island town 40-miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious old locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. "

Apple TV is rolling out the first three episodes on April 29, then releasing new episodes weekly through June 17. It's a ten-episode season total, so there's plenty of weird cursed island chaos to dig into.
