More than a month after we saw the last of Stranger Things, fans finally have something new to look forward to as the first official trailer for Stranger Things: Tales from '85 has dropped. The animated series brings life to the beloved show and our beloved characters, particularly everything that happened to them in 1985, shortly after the gate to the Upside Down was closed.

In the trailer, Mike Wheeler says,

"A big snowstorm is coming next week"

It's a subtle line that reinforces the idea of bigger and scarier monsters being a part of the narrative this time, as the dangers of the Upside Down and Vecna make their way to animated screens.

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 is being executive produced by the creators of the original, Matt and Ross Duffer, alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps Entertainment, Hilary Leavitt from Upside Down Pictures, and Eric Robles, who also developed the show. Animation duties are handled by Flying Bark Productions, a studio known for its dynamic and stylized animated storytelling.

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 explores what happened between the events of the second and third seasons of the show and follows our favorite group, including Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max as they fight new monsters that are emerging from the Upside Down. On the other hand, they're also solving a new paranormal mystery that is threatening Hawkins. The double threat forms the core of the show, but it's nothing that the group can't handle. Hopefully.

The voice cast includes Brett Gipson, Luca Diaz, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Braxton Quinney, Elisha Williams, Benjamin Plessala, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, among others.

The official synopsis of the show reads,

In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading," reads the official synopsis. "Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this untold story set in the 'Stranger Things' universe."

Stranger Things: Tales from 85 will be available to stream on Netflix from April 23, 2026. Meanwhile, all the seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on the platform.
