Peter Claffey is all praise for his A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms co star Dexter Sol Ansell, as the actor is gushing over the young talent's presence on screen and how he was "born to perform.". During the New York City Comic Con, Claffey opened up on his relationship with Ansell as he praised him and said,

"He might be 9 by the government or by years, but he's got a very old head on him. He's just at ease."

Claffey plays Sir Duncan the Tall on the show while Ansell plays Aegon Targaryen also known as Egg. They form the core of the show, transforming the premise into a buddy comedy.

The actor then talked about how he tries his best to keep Ansel grounded, as he added,

"My childhood was very small-town Ireland, a lot of sports and a lot of different things. I'm trying to keep him grounded — that is my main priority — because he is a really good, good-hearted, kind kid. I know he's going to have an incredible, incredible career ahead of him. It just feels like home every time we get into a scene [together]. I'm really lucky, really fortunate to get to work with him."

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is HBO’s latest return to Westeros, set nearly a century before the events of Game of Thrones. Created by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin, the series adapts Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and while it shares the same world of dragons and dynasties, this series skips large-scale warfare for intimacy, humor, and moral uncertainty.

The official synopsis of the show reads,

A century before the events of "Game of Thrones," two unlikely heroes wander Westeros. In an adaption of George R. R. Martin's novella "The Hedge Knight," a young and naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg, face a series of dangerous exploits. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and images of the last dragon have not yet passed from living memory, great destinies and powerful foes await these improbable and incomparable friends.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has received positive reviews from the audience, receiving a strong 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has been widely regarded as a good spinoff of Game of Thrones, one that's less grand and epic but all the more human and sensitive.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is streaming on HBO Max.
