Heated Rivalry actor Dylan Walsh is under hot water with the makers of the hit series. That's because the actor recently revealed something major about the upcoming season of the sports romance. Walsh's Cameo clip (the celebrity video app) went viral recently, in which he accidentally revealed the number of episodes that the team is going to film in Canada. He said:

“Getting ready to go back up to Canada and shoot some more episodes… so, I think we’re doing 12 this time.”

This accidental slip-up is why Walsh's Cameo account has been paused for the coming weeks. As of now, it is unclear when his Cameo account will open, but it seems that Walsh might not be doing Cameos for a while. He might return to the app after Heated Rivalry Season 2 wraps up production.

Heated Rivalry - Dylan Walsh Controversy Explained:

Walsh's Cameo clip revealed that the Heated Rivalry team was preparing to film 12 episodes this time. Right after this revelation, Walsh's account has gone on a lockdown mode, and his Cameo account states that it will remain inactive until later this month. However, even if it were to open up, we don't know when or whether we will see him on the app for a while.

Walsh's has many fans believing that the upcoming season might be split into two or that the production team might be filming not one but two seasons back-to-back. As of now, we don't have the episode count for season 2, and the status of the third one remains unclear. But Walsh's confirmation of twelve episodes does confirm that we are getting six more episodes for the upcoming season[s].

Season 1 consisted of just six episodes:

Series creator Jacob Tierney famously said early this year that he doesn't see the need to do ten episodes for one season. The creator sat down for an interview with the Los Angeles Times in February, when Tierney famously said that he prefers to determine a tight story for a season that clocks in under ten episodes. His exact words were:

“I don’t need to do 10 [episodes in a season]. I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey. I would rather be like, ‘Let’s see how much story we can pack into these episodes.’”

The second season is adapting the sixth book in the Game Changers novels, The Long Game. If season 2 follows the plot of The Long Game, then it will see a decade-long time jump. Ilya and Shane's relationship is put through the ultimate test in that book, and the second season might be doing the same.
