Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is looking back at his time on the show with Eric Dane after his devastating death. Dane played Mark Sloan on the show, nicknamed McSteamy, and shortly after Grey's Anatomy returns after a break, it will pay tribute to the beloved actor who worked on it for years.
Speaking about Dane during The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Dempsey talked of their friendship and Eric Dane's final days as he stated,
“He was bedridden and it was very hard for him to swallow, so the quality of his life was deteriorating so rapidly. He was the funniest man – he was such a joy to work with and I want to just remember him in that spirit because any time he was on set, he brought so much fun to it.
More tributes poured in from the cast of the show, and its creator, Shonda Rhimes, who noted him as
"truly a gifted actor whose portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan left an indelible mark on the series and on audiences around the world,"
On the other hand, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson also made a statement saying that he was "heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric," and that "working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift. Eric's family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing."
