The Boys is officially over and we are now making our way to Vought Rising. While fans are still processing the ending of the former, a leaked teaser for the latter has sent fans into a frenzy as they got a glimpse at the prequel set in 1050s.

Although it didn't give away much, what it did show was enough to confirm something Jensen Ackles has been hinting at for months now: the Soldier Boy we're about to meet is not the one we already know.

The teaser surfaced online after fans attending the finale screenings got a first look at the footage, and from what's been pieced together, this younger version of Soldier Boy is clearly someone who still believes in something. That's already jarring if you think about the bitter, checked-out veteran we spent time with in The Boys. In one of the key moments from the leaked footage, Soldier Boy says "I want to fight for the flag. I want to be a hero," which sets up his early idealism before life and Vought slowly grind that out of him.

Stormfront, going by her real name Clara at this point in the timeline, also appears in the teaser watching him with a smile as she knows exactly what he is and what he's going to become. That dynamic alone has the potential to be genuinely compelling television.

A release date for thw show is yet to be announced, but it's speculated to get released in 2027.

Ackles has been pretty transparent about what Vought Rising's version of the character looks and feels like. He told Variety that this Soldier Boy won't have the same "swagger and gravitas" because he hasn't yet spent decades as the top supe in the world, and that while he won't feel like a completely different character, he also won't be the "tough guy" audiences think they know, which is an interesting line to walk.

Ackles described it as wanting to show "scenes, relationships and character traits that predate how we see him in modern day," while also being clear that the toughness will still be there, it'll just get there quickly. So it sounds less like a redemption arc and more like a portrait of someone becoming wors, which is so much more interesting.

The official logline for Vought Rising calls it a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, covering Soldier Boy's early days and the schemes of a supe then known as Clara Vought, who fans will recognise as Stormfront.

More details about Vought Rising are awaited for now.
