Glen Powell is dropping some important details about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot show and he's also letting us guess what role he would possibly be playing in the show. While promoting his new A24 film How to Make a Killing, Powell opened up about the upcoming reboot, now in development as a television series.

Speaking to Variety, the actor said,

Texas Chainsaw is, I think, one of the most brilliant horror movies… [it] defined the genre and really was such a part of that era… A24 is a place that’s really making such special things…We just really talked to the rights holders… JT Mollner and… some other creatives around it… they’re so passionate about what we’re doing. They have a really strong vision… Everybody around it really cares… I care about it, everybody cares about it. I know we’re going to do something really special with it, so I’m feeling very very good… It was a long process to get there, but I know we have something really fun ahead.

The actor also confirmed he will be heavily involved as a producer through his company Barnstorm. As for whether he might appear onscreen for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre show, possibly even as the silent slasher Leatherface, he kept things mysterious as he said,

[Will I star in the movie, or even play Leatherface?] You never know, but as of now…. I really think it’s probably just something for [my production company] Barnstorm to produce, but I’m definitely going to be very involved.

After a competitive bidding battle, A24 has secured the rights to develop a new series based on the iconic horror franchise that began with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The upcoming series will be directed by JT Mollner with Glen Powell serving as an executive producer through his company Barnstorm. Producing alongside him are Roy Lee and Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures, Stuart Manashil, Image Nation’s Ben Ross, Dan Cohen, and Exurbia Films’ Kim Henkel. Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy are attached as producers.

Speaking about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre show, Mollner said in a statement,

”[Director and co-writer] Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel created something bold, transgressive, and truly seminal that holds up even today as the gold standard for horror. When the opportunity for a long form exploration into this world arose, I saw it as a fresh way in, as well as a way to honor the existing folklore. I can’t imagine better partners for this approach than A24. This is truly an honor.”

More details about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series are awaited.
