Kick streamer JohnWhatsGoingOn has gone viral after a heated confrontation at a 7-Eleven in Vietnam saw him getting slapped during a livestream. The incident reportedly began after the streamer continued filming another man despite repeated requests to stop recording him.

The confrontation sparked a major online debate, with viewers criticizing the streamer's actions as well as the two men's decision to physically confront him.

Why was JohnWhatsGoingOn slapped during the livestream?

The streamer was livestreaming from inside a 7-Eleven in Vietnam when he started filming a man who refused to be shown on camera

According to the livestream footage, the man repeatedly asked the streamer to keep the camera away from him and expressed concerns about his privacy. Despite the complaints, JohnWhatsGoingOn kept recording and continued speaking with him.

The man reportedly asked JohnWhatsGoingOn to "keep the camera away." The streamer also appeared to make claims about the incident that the man denied, while keeping the camera focused on him.

Despite the fact that he was still recording the discussion, JohnWhatsGoingOn appeared to pretend that his camera was turned off. The man kept asking him not to film him.

The man apparently told the streamer that the problem was with privacy laws, not where he was from. A 7-Eleven staff member also appeared to order JohnWhatsGoingOn to stop recording individuals who did not want to be recorded, and then instructed him to leave the store.

When another customer got involved, the situation became more heated. He informed the streamer that he was being rude and that the way he treated them was unacceptable.

The men kept asking the streamer to stop recording and leave the scene. By this time, both guys were shouting at JohnWhatsGoingOn to leave the store and turn off his camera. The female 7-Eleven employee also asked him to leave.

At one point, one of the men accused him of "monetizing hate" by recording the confrontation for his livestream:

“Keep the camera away. What are you doing? You’re filming for hate. You are monetizing hate!”

The statement was the man's accusation toward the streamer and was not presented as an independently established finding.

Still, the streamer refused to back down. He reportedly told the men that they didn't "belong here," escalating the conflict.

The confrontation then turned physical when the second man, who was wearing a black shirt, approached JohnWhatsGoingOn and slapped and pushed him. The streamer continued to argue with the men following the slap.

It has been reported that the streamer broke down in tears after getting slapped and pushed around during the livestream.

Posts on social media later stated that the streamer had been pestering the man for almost 20 minutes before the assault. That claim has circulated online but has not been independently verified.

What did the streamer say?

Before the physical confrontation, JohnWhatsGoingOn brought up India while debating with the man who objected to being filmed.

The man pushed back, emphasizing that his concern was about privacy, not his nationality. Following the slap, JohnWhatsGoingOn made comments about the men. The reports have sparked claims that the streamer was racist throughout the confrontation.

Other reports and social media posts have also accused him of making remarks about the way the men spoke and made comments about their religion. These additional allegations have not been independently verified.

However, the available reports do not independently verify every accusation shared on social media.

The controversy escalated after the streamer allegedly returned to the same 7-Eleven in Vietnam. Two men approached the streamer to support him, claiming that the man who slapped JohnWhatsGoingOn was wrong to respond with violence.

Their reaction has prompted criticism online, particularly from those who believe the streamer was rude to the two men during the initial confrontation.

The incident has stirred criticism about both the streamer's actions and the decision to respond with violence. It has also raised questions about how far IRL streamers should go when filming strangers for content.
