Ken Urker, the father of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, passed away on his birthday in Louisiana. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the news, stating that he was found deceased at a residence near Raceland on October 1. While authorities continue to investigate, the cause of his death has not been revealed.

Urker was 33, according to TMZ and E! News, although The Hollywood Reporter listed his age as 34. His birthday was October 1, so he would have been 34 that day.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who starred with Urker in Lifetime's Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, released a statement about his death, remembering him as a loving father and partner. She told People magazine on Thursday night:

“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”

She added:

“Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora. She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us.”

She concluded by requesting privacy and compassion for their daughter and their families as they grieve:

“There are no words that can express the depth of this loss. I ask for privacy and compassion for our daughter, our families, and everyone grieving Ken during this incredibly painful time. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.”

When did Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker welcome their first child?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Urker had their first child, daughter Aurora Raina Urker, in late December 2024. Following Blanchard's separation from Ryan Anderson in 2024, the couple rekindled their relationship and welcomed their daughter

Gypsy Rose Blanchard had previously discussed observing Urker grow into fatherhood, explaining the experience as both new and heartwarming for them. She told People:

“It’s one of those heart-touching moments because it’s like, this is new for the both of us, but also Ken was young when we met, and so it’s adorable and really heartwarming to see him grow and mature through this process.”

How did Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker meet?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Urker initially became acquainted in 2017, when he began writing letters to her while she was in prison for her role in the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard. Urker then clarified that his initial purpose was simply to offer support. In 2024, he shared on season one of Life After Lockup:

“When I wrote her the first time, it wasn’t because I was like looking for a girlfriend. I can’t tell you what I was thinking at the time at the age of 24, but I just wanted to let her know that you have support out here.”

He added:

“But she would get, you know, hundreds of those kinds of same letters all the time, so I don’t know why she wrote me back, but I’m happy she did.”

Their letters and phone calls led to a relationship. Urker proposed during a prison visit in 2018, but the couple split the next year.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard then married Anderson in 2022, while still imprisoned. After her release in 2023, they ended their marriage in 2024, and she got back together with Urker.

When asked about their rekindled relationship in 2024, Blanchard stated that they had kept a friendship and that their bond had strengthened. The couple later welcomed Aurora in December of that year.
