Now we know when the filming for Harry Potter's second season will begin

While the first season of HBO's Harry Potter is still four months away from its release, the wait for the next season might not last that long. That's because ProductionList.com has revealed that season 2 will begin filming soon enough, even if the first season has not been released yet. But you don't have to wait for long, as season 1 is releasing this December.

HBO had renewed the series for a second season this May, which was expected for a while. It should be noted that this HBO series is expected to go on for a decade, as each season is expected to adapt one book. Thus, season 2 is adapting the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Harry Potter Season 2 begins production this month:

Collider published a report on Thursday revealing that Harry Potter Season 2 will begin filming this August. The report cited ProductionList.com as the source of this update. The landing page did not specify the day and date it starts filming, but given that we are in August, the production team will start filming the second season any day now.

It should be noted this is a surprisingly fast turnaround between the production wrap early this year and the start of season 2 this month. It should be noted that HBO boss Casey Bloys alluded to something similar last November in a Variety interview. The production team might practice this filming schedule to keep up with the child actors' age.

Daniel Radcliffe was in his mid-twenties by the time the final movie wrapped up filming in 2010. It seems HBO wants to avoid the same problem so that Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout look like they are in their late teens by the time the final season rolls around. Harry is seventeen in the seventh book, Deathly Hallows.

Therefore, the production team hopes to match up the actor's age with that of their respective characters by the time the cameras start rolling on the final season.

The first season premieres this December:

The first trailer of the series, which dropped this March, revealed that the long-awaited show is premiering this Christmas. It did not confirm a date, but many believe that the series will drop on either the day of Christmas or that Sunday. We know that it will be adapting the first book of the entire series, Philosopher's Stone.

It will follow 11-year-old Harry's first year at Hogwarts as he, Ron, and Hermione try to save the world while simultaneously trying to keep up with their studies. The official logline of the HBO show reads:

"There is nothing special about Harry Potter - at least that's what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic.
