The first Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 teaser was released at Marvel's NYCC panel this Thursday. This teaser trailer has not been released online, and like the previous two seasons, we can expect it to be dropped online some time in January. But based on the trailer description, the upcoming season is set in the aftermath of the season 2 finale.Looks like the Defenders are back in the MCU. The last time we saw the street-level superhero team was in 2017 for one season of Netflix's The Defenders. Born Again Season 2 sets up the return of the Defenders, something we will see happening in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, when it begins streaming on Disney+ from March next year.Three Defenders are officially sanctioned in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIf you remember, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 ended its eight-episode run this May with Matt publicly outing himself as The Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Therefore, the season 2 finale ended with Matt in prison, as he is arrested for his vigilante activities dating back a decade. The teaser also alludes to this ending as we hear Matt say, “I made a choice to pay for my so-called crimes for stopping a madman from turning the city into his own personal kingdom”. But the opening scene of the Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 reveals that Matt's fellow heroes, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand/Iron Fist, receive official police badges, meaning they are cops.Jessica Jones isn't happy about being officially deputized as she tells Danny and Luke after taking a swig from her flask, “Well, is no one gonna say it? There should be four badges.” Meanwhile, we see scenes of Matt in prison. It is amidst these scenes that we hear Matt's narration in which he talks about being sent to prison for stopping Wilson Fisk's crimes multiple times for over a decade. It is after this narration that we get the highlight of this teaser, in which Matt tears his prison uniform to create a make-shift Daredevil costume. We see a shirtless Matt with a headwrap (much like the original DIY black Daredevil costume from the original Netflix series). Matt proceeds to beat prison inmates in this new "costume".This teaser seemingly confirms what fans theorized since the season 2 finale: Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 could be adapting the popular comic book storyline, The Devil in Cell-Block D. Another thing that this teaser confirms is Ben Poindexter is sporting a comic book-accurate darker Bullseye costume.Apart from the teaser, leaked set images have also revealed that the third season will see the return of Muse and Elektra. The Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale set up the return of Muse as Heather Glenn puts on the mask of the infamous serial killer who created murals using the blood of his victims. As for Elektra's role, we don't know what role she plays in the series. Some think that Elektra might take up Matt's mantle in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, much like a plotline from The Devil in Cell-Block D, where a different character masqueraded as The Man Without Fear. While the trailer description above sounds exciting, it was also revealed two weeks ago that Born Again Season 3 is also the final season. Therefore, Charlie Cox spoke about this at the NYCC panel.Charlie Cox gives a shout-out to the "Save Daredevil" campaign View this post on Instagram Instagram PostThe NYCC Marvel panel moderator asked Charlie Cox about season 3 being the third season of the MCU Disney+ series. The British actor who has been playing the Man Without Fear for a decade gave a shout-out to the "Save Daredevil" campaign on the stage. Entertainment Weekly published the actor's exact words, which were:“I imagine the ‘Save Daredevil’ campaign will be gearing up for round two. You don’t want to invite the wrath oaf the Save Daredevil people.”Cox also expressed to Liam Crowle while on an interview with ScreenRant that season 3 was not the last time he got a chance to play Daredevil in the MCU:"Do I think we have seen Matt for the last time? I honestly don't know, I'd hate to speculate, but I don't think so. I think there will be something, [it] might not be for a long time, but there are [ways] I think he will show up somehow, somewhere."Considering that the Defenders are returning to the MCU with Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, Marvel could be working on something behind the scenes for these characters.Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 begins streaming on Disney+ next March.
