The platform's historical drama series is a prequel spin-off of Outlander that follows the love stories of Jamie and Claire's parents, Brian and Ellen and Julia and Henry, across two timelines.

As seen in the Season 1 finale, Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 will not be easy for our beloved couples. After a whole season of clan politics and deadly conspiracies, Julia-Henry and Ellen-Brian were finally reunited in the Season 1 finale. But in true Outlander fashion, fiery crosses appeared across the Highlands, hinting at the 1715 Jacobite Rising and yet another separation.

Blood of My Blood Season 2 marks the return of Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser, Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie, Hermione Corfield as Julia Moriston and Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp, along with the supporting cast of Tony Curran, Séamus McLean Ross, Rory Alexander, Conor MacNeill and Sam Retford.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 will premiere on Starz on September 18. Like the previous season, the second season of the prequel series will air weekly episodes every Friday until the Season 2 finale, scheduled to air on November 20.

What to expect in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2?

Season 2 would be even deadlier and more dangerous for the characters as they navigate war. Seasoned Outlander fans will remember that war, separation and loss were major themes in the parent series, which will bleed into the spin-off. The fiery crosses lit up in the Season 1 finale, which hints that a bloody war is inevitable.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts teased that war will be a major event in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2, which will not only affect the fates of both couples but the lives of the major characters:

“It’s a historic event, so it’s going to have a huge effect on everybody’s life going forward throughout the season, because there will be a battle. Once we get to the battle, what happens after the battle — the ramifications of that — will have major effects on everybody involved. It is a huge fulcrum of the season.”

Fans eager to see Brian and Ellen bask in post-marital bliss in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 are in for disappointment. The couple will be separated yet again, as they report to their respective clans in preparation for the impending war.

Elsewhere, Julia and Henry's failed time-travel attempt will bring the former to Castle Leathers. While Claire's mother desperately tried to escape from Lord Lovat's clutches throughout Season 1, she will have no choice but to return to him in the upcoming season. To protect a young William, Julia will find herself at Castle Leathers, separated from Henry again.
