Paradise Season 2 Episode 1, titled 'Graceland,' is now out on Hulu. The network's Emmy-nominated post-apocalyptic political thriller series is finally back with its sophomore season. Season 2 debuted with a 3-episode premiere on February 23, which is now streaming on Hulu.

In the final moments of Paradise Season 1, Secret Service agent Xavier Collins finally solved the murder mystery behind President Cal Bradford's death. After Collins learned that there was still a world outside the bunker, with his wife potentially alive after the world-ending event, he headed out for another adventure in search of her.

However, Paradise Season 2 Episode 1 shifts gears by introducing a new character, Annie Clay, who finds herself all alone in the world. Her story of grief and survival is different from Collins'. However, an exciting twist (in the final moments of the premiere) brings the two characters unexpectedly together, setting the stage for a riveting sophomore season.

Here is a complete recap of Paradise Season 2 Episode 1.

Here's what happened in Paradise Season 2 Episode 1

Fans waiting to see the aftermath of Xavier Collins' trip to the outside world were instead introduced to Annie, a new character, and her story of grief in Graceland. The Paradise Season 2 premiere opens years before the end of the world. Annie Clay is a young girl visiting Graceland, the birthplace of Elvis Presley. After her mother's death, who was a huge Presley fan, Graceland strangely feels like home to Annie and she decides to stay there.

Years later, she is a struggling medical student who eventually quits school in her third year and returns to Graceland. She crosses paths with a security guard named Gail, who advises her to become a tour guide, giving Annie a new direction.

Paradise Season 2 Episode 1 then shifts to the moment when President Bradford gave his emergency address. Moments before the world-ending event, Annie was working at her post with Gail. The latter instructs Annie to take some important supplies and they head to an underground basement in Graceland. However, on their way down, Gail falls down the stairs and breaks her leg.

While Annie offers basic first aid, she fears that the infection will spread but the duo has no way out. 45 days later, the inevitable eventually happens and Gail dies after succumbing to her infection, leaving Annie alone in the world once again.

Paradise Season 2 Episode 1 then jumps to Day 689 of the world-ending event that wiped out more than 60% of the population. Annie is still living in the Graceland bunker in isolation when she meets a group of survivors who are on the hunt for a Colorado bunker that will likely save them and the world.

Annie develops a close relationship with Link, one of the group's members, who tells her about the group's mission to reach Colorado. As Link and Annie develop a romantic relationship and eventually sleep together, the former asks her to join the group and shift to Colorado with them.

The night before the group is supposed to leave in Paradise Season 2 Episode 1, Annie refuses Link's offer, saying that the Graceland basement has become like a second home for her and she cannot leave it. After sharing a hearty goodbye, Link eventually leaves with the group, promising to return for Annie after locating the Colorado bunker.

After yet another time jump, we learn that Annie's passionate night with Link in Paradise Season 2 Episode 1 has left a lasting impression on her and she is pregnant with his child. In the final moments of the premiere, when Annie is on the verge of giving birth, she hears a loud explosion. Remembering Link's promise to return for her, she hopefully heads out (with her gun for safety) to reunite with him, only to find a crash site and an unconscious Xavier Collins lying on the ground.

Paradise Season 2 will release weekly episodes every Monday on Hulu.
