Peaky Blinders, the intense historical crime drama bringing life to the story of Thomas "Tommy" Shelby, ended with its sixth season. However, now, the world of Peaky Blinders is back, this time in the form of a movie. This new movie will focus on not just Tommy Shelby but also on his estranged son, Duke, in the upcoming movie The Immortal Man.

Duke’s story has been explored in the sixth season of the series, where Tommy finds out that he has another son. Though the series did not delve deeply into Duke’s storyline, it can be expected that the upcoming movie will explore more of Duke’s storyline.

Duke’s backstory in Peaky Blinders, cast, and more of The Immortal Man

In episode 4 of Peaky Blinders Season 6, Tommy Shelby finally comes across a distinct revelation. He finds out that he has a son. After Tommy lost his beloved daughter, Ruby, his life took an unexpected turn. He mourned the loss of Ruby, during which he came to know that he had a son, Duke. This son was the result of his relationship with Zelda.

He spent time with Zelda in 1914. As Tommy left Zelda soon after to go fight in the Great War, he was not aware that Zelda had become pregnant with his child. After the truth about Zelda’s pregnancy arrived, her father threatened her. Duke grew up as an orphan after his mother passed away.

Being alone during a difficult time, he had to resort to stealing. Though his life was filled with many difficulties, Duke was not afraid to dream big for himself. He believed there was “more to life,” which eventually comes to life in the upcoming movie, The Immortal Man. At the end of the series, Duke joins the Peaky Blinders while Tommy sets off to die.

In the series, Duke’s character was helmed by Conrad Khan. However, for The Immortal Man, Duke’s character is played by Barry Keoghan. The trailer of the upcoming movie is already out. It raises the level of anticipation. To watch Tommy Shelby back in action while also facing challenges because of his dynamic with his estranged illegitimate son, Duke, is something to look forward to.

Unlike the series, Duke in The Immortal Man has all grown up. Tommy, on the other hand, has to end his exile and return. He will now be facing “his most destructive reckoning yet." The family’s future is at stake, so Tommy will now have to take a dangerous path to “choose whether to confront his legacy or burn it to the ground."

Cillian Murphy, while discussing Tommy’s return in The Immortal Man, adds that in the movie Tommy is "broken." He is “just medicating and living in his purgatory that he’s created for himself” in the house that we can see at the beginning of the trailer. Though Tommy is “not really dead," he is “ignoring the world," and he is also “ignoring his family.”

Cillian Murphy, while discussing the movie, also notes that it “is very gratifying" to work with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again for the film. The upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, is written by Steven Knight, who is also the creator of the series.

The movie is going to be an “explosive chapter," as noted by Steven Knight. Besides Barry Keoghan as Duke and Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, the other cast members of this upcoming movie are Rebecca Ferguson, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Stephen Graham, etc. After dropping in some theaters on March 6, the movie will be available for streaming on the global streaming platform on March 20.
