Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 is currently streaming on Netflix globally.

Season 4 follows Benedict's Cinderella-coded love story with the Penwood's maid Sophie. In reality, Lady Penwood is Sophie's stepmother, and Miss Posy Li and Rosamund Li are her stepsisters. Sophie is no less than an all-rounder maid. However, both Lady Penwood and Rosamund Li are rude and cruel towards her. They belittle her and burden her with chores. Her only allies in the house are Miss Posy Li, the witty footman Alfie, and the cook, Miss Irma.

Alfie (David Moorst) is undoubtedly the MVP of Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1. His witty and sarcastic lines linger in your heads even after the credits roll. He wholeheartedly supports Sophie during her masquerade adventure. He arranges her attire and shoes as well. Alfie is Sophie's true friend. When Lady Penwood forces Sophie to leave the job, Alfie breaks down, and he tells her,

"Do not say anything. I want to stay angry."

Bridgerton Season 4 shifts its focus to the downstairs crew this time. Whether it's the Featheringtons' Mrs. Varley or Bridgerton's footman John, maid Celia, or housekeeper Mrs. Wilson, we get a better glimpse of what goes beyond the drawing rooms.

However, the one who stands apart among them is the Penwoods' footman, Alfie. He's truly the MVP of Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1. Alfie is the witty, sarcastic footman and Sophie's confidante in the Penwood house. He doesn't hold back his dislike for Lady Penwood or Rosamund. He knows how poorly they treat Sophie, and so when the time comes, he and Irma force Sophie to attend the masquerade ball.

He arranges Sophie's attire, shoes, and even carriage. When he reaches the Bridgerton house, he even asks Sophie to sneak in with a large group. Alfie understands Sophie too well. After the ball, it's Alfie who senses Sophie's sweet jealousy. When Lady Penwood sees marks on her silver shoes, she asks Sophie to brush and sew all her and Rosamund's shoes. Lady Penwood wants Rosamund to look her best for Benedict. Little does she know that Benedict's lady in silver is Sophie. Alfie, sensing Sophie's jealousy, wittily utters,

"If it was about the shoes you would be witty, spiteful Sophie. This is sad and silky Sophie."

Alfie is quick to catch Sophie's jealousy. He realises that it's about the ball. Sophie confesses to her brief meeting with Benedict. When Benedict finally calls on Miss Posy Li in hopes of finding his lady in silver, it's Alfie who encourages Sophie to reveal her identity. But Sophie doesn't reveal herself.

When Lady Penwood realises that Sophie secretly snuck into the masquerade ball, she scolds her and tells her to seek employment elsewhere. While Sophie leaves, Irma hands her some money, and Alfie hugs her. He breaks down and asks Sophie not to utter anything. He wants to stay angry at the Penwoods. To know what Alfie does next watch Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2.

Part 2 arrives on February 26, 2026, on Netflix.
