Percy Jackson and The Olympians Season 2 soundtrack guide: A complete list of the music in the Disney+ show's latest chapter

Percy Jackson and The Olympians Season 2 kicked off with a two-episode premiere last week. The first episode launched the plot instantly with some major changes from its two-decades-old source material, The Sea of Monsters. However, it also hooked viewers through its needle drops, which fans are still discussing even a week after the premiere.

It should also be noted that, as of now, only four songs have been heard throughout the first two episodes of Percy Jackson And The Olympians Season 2. Three songs were heard in the first episode, while only one song was heard in the second episode.

"When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse."

Of these, the 1991 Mariah Carey hit "Emotions" even played a pivotal role in the second episode, “Demon Pigeons Attack”. Percy and Annabeth compete in a violent chariot race in that episode to win it. They hope to get a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece sanctioned.

Percy learns that the fleece can heal the poisoned Thalia’s Tree, which protects Camp Half-Blood from threats like monsters in the Percy Jackson And The Olympians Season 2 premiere. Thus, the second episode is all about Percy and Annabeth coming up with ways to get the quest sanctioned.

The two teamed up to save fellow campers from Stymphalian birds by playing Mariah Carey's songs.

In the book, Percy and Annabeth retrieve one of Chiron's records in Tantalus's office and play a Dean Martin song. But the Disney+ series changes it to Mariah Carey's "Emotions". Executive producer Craig Silverstein addressed this change in a TVLine interview last week:

"In the books, it's Dean Martin because that's what Chiron listens to. We started thinking about other music Chiron might listen to, because we really wanted to get this idea of the high-pitched noises, and we didn't know if [a Dean Martin song] would really translate on screen. ... I remember listening to ['Emotions'] as a kid and just being shocked when she hit that high G above C, whatever that note is. It's usually the case that when you decide on something like that, you kind of screw yourself over and you don't get it, and we didn't have a back-up. But it all worked, we got it, and I'm very happy that we did."
