Pinocchio cast and characters: Here's who brought the Kdrama to life

Pinocchio is truly an intense K-drama that starts off with a disaster striking the Ki family. After an incident, the Ki family’s life is completely shattered, causing the death of the matriarch of the family.

The youngest son of the family, Ki Ha-myung, survives but decides to adopt a new identity to lead his life. However, his life soon takes a turn after he comes across the reality of the past incidents, which causes him to search for the truth along with Choi In-ha, a rookie reporter with “Pinocchio syndrome”.

1) Lee Jong-suk as Choi Dal-po/Ki Ha-myung

Lee Jong-suk’s performance always comes with a distinct level of intensity, as can be seen in his other projects as well. In this series, he takes on the role of Ki Ha-myung. Ha-myung loses everything because of the wrong information that the media distributed, which caused his family to become devastated. He lost his parents and even his elder brother.

After he is found by Gong-pil, he decides to take on a completely different identity to survive. However, his past comes to haunt him once again, causing him to find a way to reveal the truth to the world. Lee Jong-suk’s performance truly leaves a lasting impact with the level of authenticity he brings forth in this series. Some of his other projects that definitely deserve a place in your watchlist are Big Mouth, W, While You Were Sleeping, etc.


2) Park Shin-hye as Choi In-ha

With projects such as The Heirs, Doctors, Doctor Slump, etc., Park Shin-hye’s ability to embody the roles she takes on and bring out the struggles of the characters in a realistic manner truly makes her a talented actor. Her versatility knows no bounds, as can be seen in her performance in this series.

She depicts a character suffering from Pinocchio Syndrome. This syndrome becomes a hindrance in In-ha's path to becoming a reporter initially; however, her dedication to finding the truth eventually leads her to the goal that she wanted to achieve in her life.


3) Jin Kyung as Song Cha-ok

Jin Kyung’s performance as the intense Song Cha-ok in this series is essential in bringing out the essence of the series. Cha-ok’s past connection with the case of the Ki family, along with her relationship with her estranged daughter, In-ha, adds to the layer of intrigue in the storyline.

Besides this series, some of Jin Kyung's other notable projects are Cold Eyes, It's Okay, That's Love, My Only One, Dr. Romantic 2, etc.


4) Byun Hee-bong as Choi Gong-pil

Byun Hee-bong’s Choi Gong-pil is truly a heartwarming character in the series. Gong-pil found Ha-myung and decided to give him shelter. As he is suffering from memory loss, he thinks that Ha-myung is his long-lost son. He even adopts him and gives Ha-myung Dal-po's identity.

Bong-pil’s dedication towards taking care of Ha-myung when he needed him the most becomes a significant aspect in Ha-myung’s life. Byun Hee-bong’s other projects are My Teacher, Mr. Kim, The Host, The Devil's Game, etc.


5) Lee Yu-bi as Yoon Yoo-rae

Lee Yu-bi’s performance in the series as Yoon Yoo-rae is a significant aspect of the overall storyline. Yoo-rae’s past is quite different. However, now she lives a different life. Her presence in the series added a layer of lightheartedness. It became a memorable part of the series.
