President Curtis ending breakdown: Curtis faces Paul Bunyan and a strange new threat takes root

The Adult Swim series streaming on HBO Max, President Curtis Season 1, revolving around President Curtis and his team dealing with strange crises, has come to an end. Throughout the series, Curtis was seen trying his best to keep the country under control amid weird and strange events, which include a CIA moon conspiracy, a weird Santa Claus mystery, and more.

While he suspects Paul Bunyan and even goes after him, according to Comic Basics, it turns out Bunyan wasn't actually the mastermind, but the trees were. Actually, Bunyan was controlled by the trees, who were using him as a puppet to make their plan successful.

In the end, Curtis takes care of the matter in his own way. However, he doesn't tell the public who was behind everything, as he wanted people to maintain their trust in him.

President Curtis Episode 10 recap: Curtis faces Paul Bunyan once again

In Episode 10 titled Timber, according to Comic Basics, both Special Agent O'Doyle and Curtis decide to first deal with Paul Bunyan, and somehow they even are successful in bringing him down using the obsidian boomerang. But Janice comes to know that Bunyan is gone forever, which is certainly shocking.

So what happens to Bunyan? Bunyan returns with a weird tree-like body, and Curtis has no other option but to deal with him. In reality, he was never back, as he was just being used as a pawn.

President Curtis Episode 10 recap: What really happened to Paul Bunyan?

In the HBO Max series, Bunyan isn't what everyone thinks he was. Instead, he was actually being controlled by a creature, which is a tree. The trees used Bunyan's head and gave it a body to control people.

The trees had their own plan to multiply and even get into space with the help of astronauts. But their plan fails after people start cutting trees and start making houses out of the wood. Hence, they start eating the humans instead, which explains what happened to Bunyan.

Thanks to O'Doyle, Curtis, and Banks' efforts, they are able to stop them from succeeding in their plan using the anti-foliage spray.

And just like that, they are able to defeat Bunyan once again, although it wasn't Bunyan this time. However, things don't go in Curtis' favor, as more people start supporting Bunyan, which puts Curtis against the other groups.

With no real way out, Curtis finally has to admit that this whole Bunyan situation was also a little personal for him. He just couldn't stand seeing everyone so obsessed with Bunyan and cheering him on.

After dealing with one problem, Curtis returns to another problem waiting for him, and that was the "Lincoln's Hat" bill. However, it passes at the end of the season.

President Curtis definitely doesn't get an easy ending, as his ex-wife, Governor Beverly, shows up and takes over the Bunyan situation using the White Flag laws. Curtis goes along with his ex-wife's plan. However, he surprises everyone by stealing Beverly's helicopter with O'Doyle, but it soon crashes, and they survive by jumping before it's too late.

So does Curtis tell everyone everything? Turns out, no! Though Curtis had a chance, he decides not to reveal the tree thing to the public. Instead, he just says that Bunyan is gone to protect his image as president.
