President Curtis is back, but this time he is leading his own show! Keith David has confirmed that the new Rick and Morty spin-off will be released later this year.

The biggest update about President Curtis comes straight from Keith David himself. While promoting another project, Keith David revealed that the spin-off is expected to drop later this year. It is the clearest release window fans have heard ever since Adult Swim first confirmed the show at San Diego Comic-Con in 2025.

David also made it clear that the tone will stay close to what fans already love. Curtis will not be getting a full makeover, and the tone of the character is not expected to change. According to him, the same confident and unpredictable leader from Rick and Morty will be returning to us in the form of an all-new spin-off series.

The character has also been missing recently, as the character was last seen during Season 7. This left fans feeling unsure if at all we would ever get to see him back again. With the spin-off all set to release later this year, the franchise is indeed bringing him back in a much bigger way and putting him in charge of his own intergalactic mess.

What will the President Curtis spin-off explore and who is behind the new spin-off series?

The series is being developed by Dan Harmon with writer and producer James Siciliano. Siciliano at first started as a writer’s assistant on Rick and Morty before moving up the score board, so this project comes from people who do fully grasp what the Rick & Morty universe is inside out.

The story follows President Curtis as he handles disasters that Rick and Morty simply leave behind. That angle gives the show a different perspective on the same universe. Instead of watching Rick fix things (or spoil things), fans will see how the government deals with problems left behind after both of their adventures.

This spin-off also marks the third attempt at expanding the franchise beyond the main show. Previous projects did not continue beyond their initial runs, so the spin-off now has the chance to become the first long-running side story within the Rick and Morty world.

President Curtis is all set to be a new addition to the Rick and Morty universe this year. With Keith David confirming a release window set for later in the year and promising the same energy fans already enjoy, expectations are high.
