Fans of Citadel, Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently shared an update about the future of the show beyond Season 2, but it is not very promising. The first season of the show was released back in April 2023, and truth be told, the reviews were not all positive. However, fans were still looking forward to the upcoming seasons of the show, and with Season 2 coming up now, fans are eager to know if there are more seasons to look forward to.But unfortunately, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who plays the lead character in the show, also does not have an answer for this, as she recently revealed to Variety."We have Season 2, for sure, but the rest? I have no idea. I don’t ask. I go to work, do my job and I leave."That's not very promising coming from the leading actor in the series. However, given how the first season of Citadel fared, it's not unexpected either.Citadel Season 1 did not have the most promising response from viewers and criticsCitadel Season 1 was spread across six episodes, where the story explored how two agents from the secret spy agency of Citadel, named Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), fought back against a rival agency after having their memories wiped clean. They have to figure out their identity as spies while also battling their rivals. The six-episode series had a production budget of $300M and featured the Russo brothers as executive producers. While the show was an ambitious project, it did not receive the audience reaction that was anticipated, with its Rotten Tomatoes critics' rating standing at 52% and audience rating standing at 62% even in February 2026.Naturally, while the show did get renewed for Season 2, it is not very likely that the show will get renewed further unless the upcoming season shows some promise. However, despite all this, Priyanka Chopra Jonas always maintains that working with the Russo brothers is extremely enjoyable."I really admire the Russos. They’ve been a big part of my career and my journey here. Joe [Russo] just dropped the script on text one day to me. Literally on text. He was like, ‘Check this out.’ That’s classic Joe style. And here we are four years later."Season 2 of Citadel is set to premiere later this year in April 2026, and will be available to stream on Prime Video, along with the first season, which is already available to stream.READ MORE: "What are you, Switzerland?" — Comedian Pushpek Sidhu calls out Priyanka Chopra for not picking a side between Indian and Mexican foods
