Friends Season 4 Episode 20 titled The One With All the Wedding Dresses premiered on April 16, 1998. In this episode, Rachel's heart breaks after she learns about Ross's engagement. What follows is the sweetest display of female friendship on the show. When Rachel breaks down, Phoebe knows exactly what she needs. Instead of offering her advice on how to move on, she decides to do a fun thing.
The three women end up wearing wedding dresses, drinking beer, and munching popcorn. It's a hilarious sight, but there is something that is genuinely touching about the moment.
Rachel's heartbreak is real, and so is the comfort she finds in the company of her best girl gang.
Here's more about it.
How does Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe's wedding dress moment become Friends' peak girlhood scene?

When Ross shares his engagement news, he wishes the same for Rachel. Rachel tells him that her relationship with Joshua is also going strong. Ross asks whether she is interested in going on a double date with their respective partners. She agrees to plan.
Elsewhere, Monica goes to the boutique to collect Emily's wedding dress. The shop owner mistakes her for Emily and insists that she try on the dress.
Monica stands in front of the mirror, and right then, the owner informs her that it's time to close the store.
Back at the apartment, Monica wears Emily's wedding dress and pretends to thank the guests at her wedding. Someone knocks at the door, and it's none other than Phoebe. Phoebe is also wearing a wedding dress like Monica's. When Rachel comes over to get something from the fridge, she pretends that she is happy. However, in reality, Rachel is in a chaotic situation. She shares that she thinks Ross and Emily aren't going to get married.
Ross comes in and announces that he has picked a wedding date. In the end, Rachel realizes that she is actually upset about Ross's marriage because they have been in an on-and-off relationship, and she was expecting they would patch things up again. When Ross worries about Rachel after she tells him that Joshua might have broken up with her, Rachel says that she will be fine and adds:
"I got my girls"
Rachel, however, breaks down and rests her head on Phoebe's lap. That's when Phoebe does the absolute girl's girl thing. She tells Rachel she knows what would cheer her up.

The scene switches to Phoebe, Rachel, and Monica wearing wedding dresses. Rachel says that wearing the dress made her feel better. They munch on popcorn and drink beer together. This scene reminds us that girlhood is not having everything figured out. Sometimes it's about crying on your friend's lap, wearing a wedding dress for no reason, and finding joy in the smallest things. Thus, when Rachel says 'I have my girls', the statement perfectly captures the beauty of female friendship.
The scene, however, ends with Rachel opening the door only to find Joshua, who gets awkward seeing her in a wedding dress, and leaves abruptly.
