What is Radioactive Emergency about?

The series is based on a real-life incident involving Cesium-137 that happened in Goiânia. During that time, people opened a radiotherapy device, which released radioactive material, putting people's lives at risk.

The story revolves around the same, with scientists and doctors trying their best to understand what is happening and stop the situation from becoming more serious.

Talking about the series, a statement on a Netflix article reads:

"A race against time follows, as the authorities and specialists work to track the contamination and save lives, including those of an entire family affected by the tragedy. The drama shines a light on the anonymous heroes whose efforts mobilized the country and brought renewed attention to the work of Brazilian scientists and medical teams."

In a video uploaded by Netflix, Paulo Gorgulho, who plays the role of Orenstein in the series, revealed that the people who found the isotope were attracted to the glowing color and were in contact with it for many days without knowing how dangerous it was.

The series focuses on the steps the doctors took to save the people. Leandra Leal, who plays the role of Esther, added:

"These people who were victims of the cesium incident in Goiânia are suddenly removed from their own homes, from their entire existence."

The isotope was also sold in many places, with many families getting affected by it due to the contamination. Speaking of the incident, Johnny Massaro, who plays the character of Márcio in the series, said:

"We need to be very respectful when discussing this story because we are dealing with real pain. It's a very deep wound in our history, one that many people are unaware of."
