"Vote for Sampson", the penultimate episode of Reacher Season 4, ended on a cliffhanger as we were uncertain about Congressman John Sampson's fate. A suicide bomber had just infiltrated Sampson's charity event with the intention of releasing the bioweapon and killing all the attendees. But Sampson saved everyone by tackling the terrorist into the water.

As the two fell into the water, the bomb went off. Reacher looked at the spot of the explosion, and the episode cut to black. This cliffhanger ending has everyone discussing Sampson's fate. But that's not the only thing that has fans buzzing. Many believe that Sampson's wife, Elspeth (Kathleen Robertson), might be a minor antagonist in the Reacher Season 4 finale.

How might Elspeth have been revealed to be one of Reacher Season 4's villains?

The second act of the episode reveals that the photograph contained the formula for a destructive bioweapon. While the formula is blurred in the original picture, modern technology can make it visible. Thus, Reacher, Jacob, and Tamara warn Sampson that Amisha and Lila might unleash the bioweapon next morning on a freeway during peak traffic hours.

However, John Sampson realizes that his charity event is the target, as he is the one who killed Putra, which Amisha (revealed to be a Putra loyalist) witnessed. The attack on the charity event was just a way to get back on John Sampson.

The former military officer turned congressman first sends Elspeth to the hotel room for her safety and calls Reacher to inform him about the event being the target. Meanwhile, John Sampson's Head of Security, Springfield, discovers a body of one of the guards. As that happens, Elspeth walks in, and the scene is shot in a way that many felt was suspicious.

One of the revelations in this Reacher Season 4 episode is Lila and Amisha will be holding an auction in the dark web for the bioweapon. There are several buyers bidding for the weapon, and many believe that Elspeth is one of them. The episode doesn't confirm if Elspeth killed Springfield, as the scene awkwardly cuts there. Therefore, it is also possible that the production team filmed the scene hastily.

Hence, we have to wait a week if this theory pans out.
