Rhea Seehorn takes home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in Pluribus

Rhea Seehorn won the 78th Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in Pluribus. Pluribus is the Apple TV series in which she played Carol Sturka, a woman who finds herself caught in a weird world where almost everyone else seems to have changed. This is Seehorn's first-ever Primetime Emmy Award, making the win feel more special for the actress.

Accepting the award, Seehorn said on stage:

"Sorry, this is me on a beta blocker. It’s pretty bad."

Seehorn further thanked the Television Academy and everyone who voted for her and also congratulated her fellow nominees, praising them for their brilliant performances. The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards were held in the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Mariska Hargitay served as a host this year.

Rhea Seehorn wins the Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy Award for Pluribus

Rhea Seehorn's win came at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. The other nominees in the category were:

The award was presented by Florence Pugh, famous for Thunderbolts* and We Live in Time, and Julia Garner, known for Ozark and Weapons.

In her acceptance speech at the Emmys, Seehorn also spoke about her fellow nominees, including Keri Russell. She shared that Russell had sent them a thoughtful gift and card, quoting Gloria Steinem's words, "We are linked, not ranked." Seehorn said she felt the same way about all the women in her category.

Seehorn further thanked Vince Gilligan for giving her what she called the role of a lifetime. She also praised him for creating a set where everyone could collaborate freely and feel comfortable taking risks, which she said helped them grow as artists.

Lastly, Seehorn thanked the entire team behind the show, including the crew, producers, writers, background artists, and casting team. She also gave a special mention to her co-stars Miriam Shor, Jeff Hiller, Samba Schutte, and Carlos-Manuel Vesga. She also mentioned Karolina Wydra, calling her "my" pirate lady.

Ending the acceptance speech, she thanked her family, friends, and supporters for their support throughout the journey.

The win is a big moment in Seehorn's career, as it is her first Emmy. The actress has been nominated twice for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. However, she has not won the award. Her other famous works include Better Call Saul, Veep, The Twilight Zone, and Whitney.

She has already won a Critics Choice Award and a Golden Globe, and this latest Emmy win just adds another big award to her collection. On the other hand, Pluribus has already had a pretty strong run at the award show, with eighteen nominations. This makes its run at this year's ceremony even more impressive.
