The release date and first trailer for American Horror Story: 13 are out, which has teased us of the multiple new and returning characters we'll be seeing this season. It was earlier revealed that this season will include multiple fan favorite characters from the earlier seasons of the show, and the teaser has given us our first look at the return of Kai Anderson, Marie Laveau, Madison Montgomery, and Cordelia Goode, among others.
Interestingly, Ryan Murphy, co-creator and showrunner of the anthology series, has revealed that Evan Peters, among a few others, is not only playing multiple characters but multiple characters in the same scene.
Evan Peters' Kai Anderson might have a scene with his other character, Rubber Man in American Horror Story: 13
One of the very first scenes from the American Horror Story: 13 teaser is Evan Peters' Kai Anderson pushing Rubber Man (also played by Peters) in a wheelchair. But apparently the teaser isn't the only time we'll see Peters share a screen with himself. As Variety reports, Ryan Murphy has revealed that Evan Peters has a scene in the upcoming season where he talks to himself.

Speaking to Variety about the upcoming season, Murphy said,
“I know which [seasons] the fans liked the most. They love ‘Murder House’, ‘Asylum,’ ‘Coven,’ ‘Freak Show,’ and they loved ‘Cult,’”
He then explained:
“Some of the actors will be playing two characters from two different seasons in the same scene. Evan was, at one point, playing two different characters and talking to himself. So it was really fun and tricky to make, and I loved that. I’ve edited almost all of them, and I think they’re really good.”
This particular scene Murphy talks of might be that between Kai Anderson and Tate Langdon, aka Rubber Man, since we've already seen the characters together in the teaser. However, the scene might also be between one of these two characters and James Patrick March, because Peters is playing three of his earlier characters in American Horror Story: 13.
As Murphy subtly revealed, other characters will also be playing two different characters from two different seasons in the same scenes. Jessica Lange is reprising her roles as Constance Langdon, Sister Jude Martin, Fiona Goode, and Elsa Mars. We thus might see Lange play two of these four characters in the same scene.
Other cast members returning to reprise their roles are Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode, Angela Basset as Marie Laveau, Emma Roberts as Madison Montgomery, Billie Lourd as Mallory, Gabourey Sidibe as Queenie, Leslie Grossman as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt, John Carroll Lynch as Twisty the Clown, Mat Fraser as Paul the Illustrated Seal, Mena Suvari as Elizabeth Short, Frances Conroy as Myrtle Snow, and Jamie Brewer as Adelaide Langdon.
Kathy Bates and Cara Delevingne are also set to return for American Horror Story: 13, but it has not yet been revealed which of their earlier roles they will reprise. New cast members joining American Horror Story: 13 include Joey Pollari as Ben DeSoto and Berto Colón as Joe the Doorman. Other new cast members are John Waters, Alex Consani, Paul Anthony Kelly, Madelaine Petsch, Avantika, Grace Dumdaw, Charlie Carver, Elle Chapman, Seth Gabel, Orlando Jones, Tig Notaro, Fedor Steer, and Zach Villa.
American HorrorcStory: 13 will premiere on September 24, 2026, on FX and Hulu with the first three episodes. The next three episodes will be released on October 1, 2026, followed by two-episode releases every Thursday until October 29, 2026.
