Schitt’s Creek's actor and co-creator, Dan Levy, made a major revelation this Sunday during his appearance on CBS Sunday Morning. Levy was promoting his new Netflix crime comedy series, Big Mistakes, which he again co-created and stars in. In that interview, Dan revealed that he was planning to work on a follow-up to the iconic series revolving around the Rose family.

While traversing through the town of Goodwood, Ontario, which served as the filming location for the town of Schitt’s Creek. After the revelation that Levy was working on a follow-up, host Anthony Mason asked the actor if it was happening even after Catherine O’Hara's passing in January this year. To this, Levy said that he wasn't working on it anymore becuase he would have an emotional reaction.

Schitt’s Creek: What did Dan Levy say about a follow-up after Catherine O’Hara's passing?

The sixth and final season ended with David and Patrick getting married, and Jonathan and Moira leaving the small town for California. Therefore, it is not surprising that Dan Levy was planning for a follow-up. But he abandoned those plans after the news of Catherine O’Hara's death this January. The actor addressed this in the CBS Sunday Morning interview:

“No, not now. You can’t. Yeah, I was thinking about it. It’s tough, it’s tough being back. I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction. Just a lot of memories, a lot of memories with Catherine. It’s what you have to hold on to, is the memories of it all.”

With this, Dan Levy confirmed that the Schitt’s Creek follow-up will no longer be happening. This is not the first time that the Levy has addressed O’Hara's passing. After the news of her death broke, the actor wrote this on his Instagram account:

“What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years. Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her. My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke and every member of her big, beautiful family.”

The same day, Dan's father, Eugene Levy, also released the following statement:

“Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today. I had the honor of knowing and working with the great Catherine O’Hara for over fifty years. From our beginnings on the Second City stage, to SCTV, to the movies we did with Chris Guest, to our six glorious years on ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ I cherished our working relationship, but most of all our friendship. And I will miss her. My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke and the entire O’Hara family.”

All six seasons of the iconic Netflix hit comedy are available on the platform. Rewatch it before Dan Levy's new comedy, Big Mistakes, consisting of eight episodes, drops on the streaming giant this Thursday.
